AKHA WORKS COMMITTEE VISITS MKPAT ENIN, AS CONTRACTOR PLEDGES COMPLETION OF REMEDIAL WORK IN JANUARY

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly committee on Works and Transport, led by its Chairman, Hon.David Lawrence, today, undertook and inspection to Awa-Ukam road, in Mkpat Enin, to assess the failed portions of the newly constructed road.

Accompanied on the visit were, Member,representing Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency, Hon. Aniekan Uko, Hon.Otobong Bob, Mr.Victor Ekwere, Hon.Godwin Ekpo and Hon.Mark Esset.

Speaking at the inspection site, Chairman of the committee, Hon.David Lawrence said, “We are here to work with the contractor and the ministry to get the road rectified, and also make sure that specification is adhered to, if there are challenges, and reassure the community that Gov.Udom means well for the community, so that the confidence of the people can be restored. He also said the committee wants to know the challenges encountered by the contractor, the reasons for these challenges, and what are the remedial work undertaken by the contractor.

According to the committee Chairman, we need to make sure that money released are put to optimal use and the completion agenda is fully attained. The community may not understand that you will remedy this at your cost. We will make our comment to restore the confidence of the people. And that the government means well for the people.”

Speaking at the inspection site, Unyime Joseph, an indigene of the community said, This road leads to the popular market in mkpat enin.. We love Udom, we want him to succeed that is why we’ve not attacked anyone.

Reacting, the project manager of Vks construction, said, We have examined the whole road. We are taking care of every problem. Before the end of January, everything will be sorted out.
