Ekid People’s Union seeks new attitude to life

The newly inaugurated National President of Ekid People’s Union, Dr Sam Udonsak, has charged his people to upscale their attitude to civic life, in order to pull themselves out of the present deplorable socio-economic situation.
Udonsak gave the charge in an acceptance speech during the swearing-in of an 11-man Exco of the Apex socio- cultural organ of Ekid Nation. The event was on December 7, 2019 at Udo Edukere Council Hall, Wait Eket.

“I invite us all to upscale our attitude to civic life. Nobody will change Ekid except Ekid people themselves. We must arise and be more proactive to our needs, our circumstances and our convictions. Nothing worth gaining is ever gained without effort. This is a fact and we must always keep this in mind”, the president said.

While accepting the responsibility wholeheartedly, he  promised “to give in our very best to deliver on the mandate. I promise further that I will run an open and inclusive administration that will allow us tap fully from the potentials of all of us in our quest to transform and lift our people from this state of disillusion.”

Udonsak noted that, “today, Ekid is at a crossroad, with dwindling fortune in all aspects of development. Our infrastructure, educational institutions, our value systems, our identity as a people have all suffered severe reverses. This is aside from the embarrassing mass poverty that has enveloped us. It is time we all stood up to reverse this situation. We all have a role to play to effect this change we want”
