The people of Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara have unanimously set in motion, the rejection of the Member representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal constituency, Mr.Emmanuel Akpan, for a second term in office.
The former Commissioner for Works, Mr.Don Etim, we gathered, had called for a meeting in his residence at Ikot Ekpene, unknown to political stakeholders in the area, that it was a ploy by Don Etim to adopt Emmanuel Akpan for a second term as House of Reps Member.
Don Etim has recently come under fire with his decision to adopt Emmanuel Akpan, who has been alleged to be a total failure by his constituents.
One of his constituents, Chris Udi, wrote on his Facebook page, “From DON to DUST. This is Baalism! The God that we trust, the God of Justice will answer our prayers. Ikot Ekpene Federal constituency is not business but Justice, fairness and equity.

“Let arise and take our rightfull place as the mother of the federal constituency. Gone are the days where our forefathers were betrayed and brutaly killed because of greed and selfishness…The set time is now. İkot Ekpene Arise.” Ifiok Okure said.
Another Facebook user, Odudu1 Jatom Asikpo, wrote, “the Prime Minister For Annang Nation Conscience That Always Stand By Equity, Justice n Fairplay, Is Giving You a Path on Your Back. The Era Of Mbiam/Oath Taking Is Gone. It Will Not Change Our Stands For That Sustained Shift. If It Come To Any Mud sliding, Violence Will Resolve It, Period.”
As a follow up to their opposition against Emmanuel Akpan’s second term, stakeholders from Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara were said to have held a meeting, to adopt a common front, and unite to enable Ikot Ekpene take their turn to produce the next house member.
Trail Reporters also gathered that, some of the stakeholders who were present at the meeting included, Dr Chris Ekpenyong,Hon Monday Uko and Mr Ukat Ekomenami who had assured the Ikot Ekpene stakeholders that they will support them to achieve their goal by telling the truth even at gun point because according to them, if the zoning arrangement is scuttled,it will definitely affect the peaceful political relationship the 3 LGAs of Essien Udim, Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara and enjoyed over the years which according to them is bigger than anyone’s personal interest.
Efforts to get Don Etim’s reaction on his endorsement of Emmanuel Akpan were unsuccessful, as calls placed to his phone line were unanswered as at the time of this report.
