The student body of Esit Eket LGA Worldwide, University of Uyo chapter, has adopted, Honorable IBANGA ETANG as the sole candidate to represent the Esit Eket /Ibino state constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in the forthcoming 2019 elections.
The event which has in attendance, stakeholders, elders of the council and students, took place on Thursday 8th June, 2018 in Uyo, the state capital.
In his address, the worldwide President of the association, Comrade Uduak Joseph Aduakide, applauded the House of Assembly member hopeful ,for his response to the call by the student body.
“…permit me to use this medium to thank you very sincerely for your expeditious response to this gathering the important it deserves. We do not consider it as an urge for campaigning, but it is a mark of respect to Esit Eket students and a sign of readiness that you are all out for this uncommon feat “. He said
In reiterating the achievements of Hon. Etang, he said “let me congratulate and thank God for the life of this great man and a servant leader for the beautiful decisions he has taken and the legacies he has bequeathed to Esit Eket 2015. Out of the 22 major projects executed and commissioned in your administration, you have left a formidable foot print in the sand of time through the construction of a new Ultra Modern Secretariat complex named “Chief (Dr) Godswill Obot Akpabio secretariat complex ” with 150 KVA generating set. History can never forget you in the list of achievers in Esit Eket LGA”.
Comrade Uduak, who prayed for God to grant House of Assembly hopeful success, declared his unalloyed support for him, also, he solicited the support of Hon. Etang towards the congress, through the provision of at least 20 plastic chairs and a table for their Weekly activities and the payment of school fees of #47,000 to one of the students who is in great need.
Speaking in the congress, Comrade Eyo Friday Eyo, described Hon Etang as a servant leader with a good heart, who at all times renders selfless services ,he admonished the fellow students to unanimously support and pray for Hon. Etang’s victory .
In his reaction, Pastor Nsikan-Abasi Ese, who is one of the major stakeholders in the LGA, commended the student body for their zeal to support Hon. Etang ,he assured them that he will always respond to their plite at any given time .Also, he implored the student not to relent in their effort in support of Hon. Etang as he is ready to serve the people.
In his response, The House of Assembly member hopeful, Hon. Etang ,thanked the students for their solidarity support over his ambition .He said that the request earlier made must be given in few days.
Etang who described himself as a proactive person that does not dwell on words, said that he must let the people feel the dividend of democracy.
He admonished the students to resist from all forms of false statements said about him to bring down his intergrity, he described this action as work of the enemy of progress.
Reiterating his achievements during his administration as Chairman of the area, he said he has completed 5 new health centers and other projects without boasting, added that, he wants the best for the local government area.
Hon. Ibanga Etang, who explain why bursary could not paid while acting as the executive chairman, said that bursary will be paid in his first year in office.
The high point of the meeting was the unanimous endorsement of Hon. IBANGA ETANG by the association, as their sole candidate for Esit Eket /Ibino state constituency, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly .
