The Governorship campaign train of the Peoples Democratic Party, led by Governor Udom Emmanuel, today, berthed at ikot Abasi local government area, where the Governor was received by a mammoth crowd.
Addressing the people at the PDP rally, the Chairman of Ikot Abasi, Hon. David Eshiet thanked the Governor, his deputy, and everyone present to the rally, saying that, Ikot Abasi people are happy for the developmental strides, in the health sector and in all areas the Governor has worked, and are willing to vote him back into office for a second term.
The PDP Chapter Chairman, Mr.Harry Iwat said, we are here to assure you, tha we are here for you. In this your second term we will give you100 percent. We will repeat what we did in 2015.
A Woman Leader in Ikot Abasi, Mary Udoh,said, all the women of Ikot Abasi are here. we are all for you, we are not aborrowed crowd. We will support you because the Lord is with you.
Speaking for the political class, Obot Etukafia was quoted as saying,
“Ikot Abasi edakaeda eno Udom. We are happy that the Governor began his campaign in Ikot Abasi. Your Excellency, we are fully mobilized for you.”
Managing Director of Hensek, Engr.Uwem Okoko addressing the rally said, “We want to assure you that as at this afternoon, we have registered 25,000 people with PVCs for elections. We will give him 5% because he is from Ikot Abasi. The rest 95% is for you. Everything Ikot Abasi wants, you have given to us.”
According to the Director General of the Divine Mandate, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, “The only bridge in Ikot Abasi is not working, no light, no water, Governor Udom has taken up all those things to do. Udom has brought prosperity to Akwa Ibom, we want that prosperity to continue.”
Today, we are here to reaffirm our resolution to support you. We have all seen all you have done in Ikot Abasi and we know you cannot complete this in four years, we pledge to support you to consolidate on your all your projects come February— Hon. Uduak Odudoh, Member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency.
The rally had also witnessed the defection of over 3,000 members of the All Progressives Congress in Edemeya, the hometown of Nsima Ekere, the Managing Director of NDDC, which was led by Engr.Imoh Okoko, who spoke on behalf of the defectors said “I was a member of the APC caucus, we saw that there was no more light in APC, the light is in PDP, so, we have seen the light and followed the light. Ikot Abasi people are in PDP. God bless Atiku, God bless Udom Emmanuel.”
Receiving the decampees, the State Chairman of the party, Obong Paul Ekpo said, the party wholeheartedly receives them, to the bigger umbrella where everyone is important.
Speaking at the event, Governor Udom Emmanuel said, before now, There was no light in Ikot Abasi but today, Ikot Abasi people have light. ALSCON have come to stay. I have connected Ikot Abasi to PHED. There are speculations that there will cart away the ballot box, Let’s ensure we defend our votes on the day of election.
If your brother knows that it will take Akwa Ibom State 32years to produce the next MD of NDDC, he would stay put and join hands to pull development to Ikot Abasi people and Akwa Ibom at large.
Akwa Ibom is meant for development and we will continue to ensure development in all areas of the State.
High point of the event, was the presentation of flags to the party’s candidates in the forthcoming elections in the state.
