In the wee hours of thursday, the master propagandist of the All Progressive Congress, Senator Godswill Akpabio in Akwa Ibom State, Zion Umoh, mobilized his ragtag internet ramblers to go on the social media and deceive people on the APC rally in Uyo. The ramblers, among them a certain Zion Umoh listed names of PDP stakeholders that have been penciled down for defection in today’s APC Presidential Campaign flag off in Akwa Ibom State. Raising a couple of anxiety, he went as far as beckoning on people to drop their WhatsApp numbers for him to inbox them the list of the would be defectors in their rally.
According to him, Chief among them were, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, the National Legal adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, the SA to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Agriculture, Mr. Moses Armstrong, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Prince Ukpong Akpabio, among others. But, to the amazement of everyone who followed through, and to the shame of the APC evil soothsayer, there was no record of any defection throughout the entire “shambolic” event.
One is then forced to ask, is APC planning to thrive on deception and PROPAGANDA as witnessed recently by their media apparatchiks, to be able to win elections in 2019. Is APC still under the illusion that the electorates are all very vulnerable to deceit, just like it happened a few years ago, most especially in Akwa Ibom State.
In an attempt to answer the question for them, the answer is glaringly, NO.
To start with, the people have become more enlightened and particularly used to their pattern which is clearly – DECEPTION. That their prediction of massive defection did not come out true today is an outright show of their stock in trade. That their deceptive tendencies did not fly in their rally has been a capital show of shame, revealing to any sane person that their proclivity is to deceive and swindle the people into another four years of untold hardship. Hoodwink the people to believing all their empty promises. Intimidate the people through deception into thinking they (APC) are the most popular.
Politics of deception is an old, archaic trick that has been uncovered a long time ago, especially now that people are feeling the true impulse of hardship in its truly unprecedented manner in the country. The people have been beaten once and they have become twice shy. Therefore, they can no longer fall for such cheap antics.
Just to digress a little, the entire show of today has been adjudged worthless by analysts who have taken to their timelines to say that, Mr President, did not proffer any real time solution to the problems we are currently facing as a people in his less than five minutes speech. There was no Blue Print, no strategic plans to combat the increasing level of unemployment currently staring us in the face. No sustainable design on how the menace of poverty would be curbed. All the President uttered were adjudged to be grossly “directionless” and self serving.
Apparently therefore, Nigerians indeed cannot afford to throw another four years into the dungeon. We cannot allow governance apprentice to keep using us for their experiment. The result of the current experimentation has been adversely constraining.
Going forward, if all of APC projections today were centered on an imaginary defections just to score cheap political points before the President, which did not happen after all, then the entire system called APC should not be taken seriously in Akwa Ibom State and beyond. The entire system is ran on erroneousness and despicable deceit.
Truth is, there are no plans, there would never be any such plans for the names he so mentioned to jump shift to APC, the much APC can get were the last that became vulnerable and followed them through their usual gimmicks of deception, which many of them have even started realizing it and are returning to where they rightfully belong – the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, towards working hard to sustain the relative peace that is being enjoyed in Akwa Ibom State, towards supporting the resurgence of industrialization, economic renaissance and robust political inclusion in the State.
The undue gallivanting has come and gone, the real APC maneuvering has been revealed. APC must be known for who they truly are, that their struggle is not people oriented, it is first selfish. A congregation of power monk political gladiators with selfish inclinations.
