AKWA UNITED SET TO DISLODGE ENYIMBA

Akwa United Football Club could move up to 3rd position on the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL table for the first time this season if they beat their matchday 27 opponent Enyimba International of Aba on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium in Uyo.

The epic encounter will see the 2015 Federation Cup champions (Akwa United), who occupy 4th position on the log go head-to-head with seven time Champions and 3rd placed Enyimba International.  According to bookmakers, the fixture which is key to both sides will be the center of attraction of matchday 27.

The Promise Keepers lost the corresponding fixture 1-0 in Calabar, but will fancy their chances against the people’s Elephant at the Nest of Champions which has since became a fortress.

Coach Abdu Maikaba’s team will be encouraged by  their unbeaten home record and the massive support of their ever vocal fans to go for the maximum three points as they continue to push their way to the top of the table.

Akwa United will seek to maintain their impressive form which has seen them picked six wins and two draws with just one defeat in their last nine matches.

The Uyo based team played a 2-2 draw with Remo Stars in Sagamu in midweek while Enyimba defeated El Kanemi Warriors 4-0 in Calabar. The Sunday match will be a direct battle between the two teams and the winner will stake claim of the third position on the log as the chase for the title intensify.

Coach Maikaba has no injury concerns going into the match and he has selected 18 full fitted players to make up the matchday squad.

Meanwhile, Coach Abdu Maikaba and midfielder Alhassan Ibrahim will be presented with the Award as Manger and Player of the month of April which is organised by the League Bloggers.

The presentation will be made shortly before the kick off of matchday 27 game against Enyimba International in Uyo.

The duo were voted Manger and Player of the month of April by League Bloggers following their team’s impressive performance in April. Akwa United won all her matches in the month under review with Alhassan scoring vital goals within the same period.
