Trail Reporters
Despite the University of Calabar, being in the news for negative reasons of alleged sexual harassments by lecturers, notably, the case of the Former Dean of Law, Professor Ndifon and his students, we can authoritatively report, that there is no end in sight on the sexual harassments.
Students from the department of science education, who spoke with our medium, said, the sexual harassments from lecturers in the department and Faculty of Education, were becoming serious, with the management of the university turning a blind eye to it.
“Law class is a starting point, The whole system is a mess. This our year 3 lecturers have been asking most of us out, you either pay or you have sex. There’s one that told me I’m dulling. Abi weda I can’t bring this my body for him.” “Let me tell you that course na E I get o, Inshort as I no even fail. I’m still surprised because the frustration is real.”
“The SUG electives are aware but them the follow chop so they will be quite. The cultism among lecturers. You go collect If you do anyhow,” some of the students we interviewed confided in Trail Reporters.
Further investigation shows that, despite the alleged sexual harassments, the level of corruption is mind blowing, as Heads of Departments are asking students to register for their projects, while they use private accounts to receive the payments.
Notably, was the HOD of Science Education, Mrs Hope Neji, who asked students to pay money into her Access bank account, 476125820, for project registration.
We have never seen where students pay to register for projects, except in this department, one of the students said.
Lecturers extortion of students are not left out, as we gathered that, registration of courses with lecturers are between N4,000 and N10,000.
Trail Reporters messages sent to Prof Florence Obi, for reaction, were not responded to, weeks after, despite ongoing discreet investigation of the institution.
