The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udo Ekpenyong has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.
This government house sources say, it is not unconnected to the one million Naira take off grant the Commissioner allegedly gave to local government chairmen, which was published on Trail Reporters some days ago.
The paltry sum we learnt, had embarrassed the Governor, due to complains he received from some of the Chairmen, who had complained openly, blaming the former Commissioner for shortchanging them.
This we also gathered, did not go down well with some persons in government circle.
As at the time of this report, efforts to reach the Governor’s Chief Press secretary were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls placed on his mobile phone.
