ARTICULATE GOVERNMENT POLICIES AND PROGRAMMES, BE PROACTIVE – BRIDGE FM CEO, NZEKWU CHARGES GOVERNORS’ MEDIA AIDES

The Chief Executive Officer of Bridge 98.7 fm Asaba, Dr Henry Nzekwu has urged media and communication aides to Governors in Nigeria, to increase their tenacity in responding to public enquiries about happenings in government so as to further bridge the gap between the electorates, public office holders and elected representatives.

The broadcast icon made the appeal at the headquarters of Bridge FM in a chat with the Executive Assistant on Communication to Delta State Governor, Barrister Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe who was a guest of the station on Wednesday July 19, 2017.

According to Nzekwu, media and communication aides to governors and senior public officers must at all times enlighten the public about policies, programmes, achievements and blueprints of governments, adding that by so doing the public become well informed and able to reasonably appreciate positive efforts of various administrations be it federal, state or local government.

“I must admit that governor Okowa administration is doing a great job which is why his media and communication aides must consistently engage the pubic through the mass media.

“You must not relent in your efforts. Feel free to take questions from the electorate and members of the general public on a regular basis; provide credible information and be proactive in your information dissemination techniques.

“We are impressed with your performance today on STRAIGHT TALK here on Bridge FM. You gave a very good account of yourself as an experienced hand in the business of information dissemination.

“Bridge Radio doors are open for robust interactions with our listeners within Delta State and across the Niger.

“Bridge Radio is one that tries to bring people closer, to make all people (irrespective of background, age, experience and creed) speak out so we may learn, understand and have our lives richer and better for the sharing of this knowledge.

“Bringing this idea to life required the creation and assemblage of all the tools and infrastructure needed for a radio station worthy of this goal,” Nzekwu added.

In the same vein, the General Manager of Bridge Radio, Harrison Ocholor encouraged spokespersons of government to work closely with the mass media on a regular basis, adding that by so doing the public becomes well informed about government actions, achievements, policies and programmes.

Responding, EA Communications to the Governor, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe said the wealth creation and prosperity programmes of the Okowa administration has yielded tremendous results, pointing out that over 18,000 Deltans within two years benefited and still counting.

He commended the management of Bridge Radio for their quality programmes and rich contents, and for sustaining high professional standard in broadcasting.

Oghenesivbe was a guest of STRAIGHT TALK current affairs programme, a discussion and live phone-in segment which allows listeners to participate actively.
