ASO ROCK CABAL TIGHTENS POWER GAME, AS TUNDE BAKARE SETS TO REPLACE VP OSINBAJO

Trail Reporters

Embattled Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, is likely to go the way of Former CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, and the recently suspended Head of Service, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, sources have told Trail Reporters.

The Vice President’s alleged crimes, is not unconnected to decisions he took as acting President, when Buhari was away for medical treatment. Prof Yemi is touted to vie for the 2023 presidential elections, but the platform on which he is to contest the elections remains uncertain, as the onslaught on him builds up.

Tunde Bakare’s name is top on the list on Osinbajo’s replacement, as he is seen by the cabal, as one who will be acceptable, haven had a long standing relationship with President Buhari, and had been running mate to the President in 2011, under the Congress for Progressives Change, (CPC), a political party, which later merged to become part of the All Progressives Congress, and also a Pastor from the South Western part of Nigeria, where the Vice President hails from.

Sources within the villa said, the coming weeks may be stormy for the Nation’s number two man, as the cabal within the presidency embarks on a voyage of unearthing how monies meant for a social development program, known as “trader money” were managed under his care, including relief materials under the National Emergency Management Agency.(NEMA).

The sacking of an influential member of the cabal, Lawal Daura, as Director General of the Department of State Security (DSS), and the subsequent confirmation of Onnoghen by the eighth senate, which Osinbajo was instrumental to, has been his albatross, as the men at the presidency are bent on seeing to his removal at all cost.

The power play is to make the administration unbearable for Osinbajo, thereby tendering his resignation letter, or mobilize the National Assembly to commence impeachment procedures against the Vice President, on gross misconduct and alleged financial improprieties.

Beyond these, unlike the former CJN, Walter Onnoghen, who failed to declare some of his assets in his asset declaration form, and the former Head of Service, Oyo-Ita, who was alleged to have mismanaged funds under her care, a source who dropped the hint said, it may be difficult for the Cabal, to establish a corrupt case against the Vice President, who has been careful in his dealings within the presidency.

We learnt that, if the strategies outlined fails, a need to restrategize may be put forward, to get Osinbajo out. Options are still being weighed, as not to give Osinbajo a sympathy landing, where a protest vote may be handed him by Nigerians, who may express dissatisfaction at his ousting.

Efforts to reach Pastor Bakare for reactions were unsuccessful as mail sent to him were not successful.
