CORRUPTION FIGHTING BACK: SARAKI TO INVESTIGATE ALLEGATION OF EXTORTION AGAINST SENATE COMMITTEE

Senate President Bukola Saraki will investigate an allegation of extortion against the senate committee on states and local governments.

A source told TheBrief that the committee had allegedly written to some local governments, demanding N400, 000 from them for the award of “best performing state”.

The source said the senate president was peeved when he got wind of the allegation, and he vowed to launch an immediate investigation into the matter. “The senate committee was accused of demanding money from some local governments for the award of best performing state,” he said. “A governor had alerted the deputy senate president who informed the senate president. So, the matter will be investigated. ”

The senate president has zero tolerance for corruption. Although, nothing is confirmed yet, a thorough investigation will unravel those behind this.”
