Most members of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) and apologists, do believe that the arrested Senator’s mishaps has nothing to do with the presidency, neither does it have anything to do with the president himself, they believe the police acted independently of any external influence, and that the mishaps was strictly based on the police statement which was made to that effect, which the police gave as wanting the Senator to come and explain his involvement with respect to what they NPF tagged attempted homicide on an officer of the police force. I am neutral on this.
But to the amazement of the general public, the state chapter of the ruling APC in Cross River do not share similar sentiments in the saga between the state outdoor advertisement agency CRISSAA and the gubernatorial candidate of their party, over their candidate billboard’s removal.
There have been indications from the camp of the APC candidate’ that the Governor of the state masterminded the removal of the billboard.
A statement credited to the candidate of the APC in the February gubernatorial elections in the state Sen Owan Enoh says ” they say I am not a threat, so why are the removing my billboards “. Since after the alleged statement credited to the senator went viral, there has been mass destruction and vandalization of billboards in the state belonging to the state ruling party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate who doubles as the incumbent Governor.
Information gathered from reliable source within the state APC, and which they have made viral, also has it that the state government has ordered her agency to bring down all billboards belonging to the APC Senator, who is also vying for the most prized seat in the state.
Pundits like yours faithful have continued to ponder why the state chapter of APC finds it more comfortable and rational to distance the presidency and the president from the mishaps of the PDP Senator, in the saga of Dino and the Nigerian Police Force, but finds it pretty difficult to believe that the state agency of Cross River State CRISSAA was equally acting independently in discharging their statutory duty when they also brought down the billboard belonging to their party candidate.
The state polity has unnecessarily been heated up for no rational reason, some pundits also believes that it is a strategy of the CRS APC to cause mayhem and provide reasons for military to be deployed in the state elections, which they believe that in such conditions it may turn out to be in favour of the state opposition party the APC, while others believe it is to ferment trouble which will eventually lead to a rerun of the state election, after the presidential elections, where it is believed by the master minders of the ploy that APC would have clinched to the presidency.
Only time will tell what exactly is in the minds of this war mongers in CRS, as the state till present enjoys relative peace, as it remains the foremost home of tourism and vacation in the country.
