There are ongoing efforts to blackmail Idongesit Ituen, the member representing Itu state constituency at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, using a pseudo Facebook account, ‘Obong nguge 1 of Calabar.’
In a statement from Nseabasi Odiong, Media Aide to Idongesit Ituen, he stated that, bizarre images were posted on the Lawmaker’s Facebook wall,and when it was noticed, the said hacker tried to clone the page too, but the quick intervention of an ICT personnel, led to the account recovery.
He also stated that, this is not the first time attempts have been made to clone the account, as other lawmakers have also been victims of this cybercrime.
He further challenged the hackers to come out publicly and accuse the Lawmaker of any wrongdoing, and not hide on the pretext of pseudonym.
Odiong charged supporters of the lawmaker and the public, to ignore such irresponsible posts and go about their normal businesses, as Idongesit Ituen will continue to bring the dividends of democracy to the people of Itu and beyond.
