As LG Commissioner, State House Member, Party Members commend exercise
The Peoples Democratic Party in Eket, on Saturday, July 27, 2024, concluded its ward congress across the 14 wards in the local government area.
In central two where the exercise held, it saw the emergence of Utibe Akpekong as the ward Chairman, and other Exco Members. The Returning Officer for the ward, Mr Bassey Bassey, said the exercise was conducted peacefully. Also speaking, the political leader of the ward, Elder Nse Atang, said there was no rancour, and thanked the Leader of the party in the state, Governor Umo Eno, for the peaceful environment, which enabled a hitch free exercise.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Frank Archibong, who spoke in Ward 2 central, said, the election process showcased an unprecedented display of unity, with all contested positions returning unopposed. He restated the unwavering support of the ward for Governor Umo Eno’s administration, stating that, “Everyone has committed to loyalty and submission to the leadership of His Excellency.
The newly elected Ward Chairman, Mr. Utibe Akpekong, expressed his gratitude to the Governor, describing him as a peaceful leader who has created a level playing field in the state’s political landscape.
In Ward 4 Central, Mr Victor Udoyo emerged as the ward Chairman, with other Exco Members who were returned unopposed. The Returning Officer, Hanson Eshiet, thanked God for a peaceful exercise, and congratulated the new Exco.
Reacting, the newly elected ward Chairman, Mr Victor Udoyo, appreciated Governor Umo Eno, and thanked Hon Frank Archibong, for his exemplary leadership in the state, which he is emulating. The Political Leader of the Ward, Elder Emman Sammy, stated that, the ward will continue to work assiduously in line with the ARISE AGENDA of the Governor. Also speaking, Ward PA, Charity Ikott, congratulated the newly elected Exco, and pledged to work with them for the development of the ward.
The Congress which held in Okon Development 2, produced Mr Emmanuel Emmanuel as the ward Chairman, and other Exco Members. Speaking at the venue, The returning officer, Hon Ubong Etukudo Johnson, said the process was peaceful, and presented the Exco Members to members of the ward.
Reacting, Member representing Eket State Constituency, Dr Nsidibe Akata, said Okon Development 2 has set a pace for other wards to emulate, being the ward of the State House Member. He congratulated the new Exco, and appraised Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE AGENDA, while pledging unflinching support to the Governor’s administration. Special Assistant to the House Member, Mr Ubokobong Armstrong, commended the leadership of the party for the exercise, and congratulated the newly elected Exco.
Also speaking, the Ward Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Emmanuel said he will work with the Akaniyene Romney led Local Government Council to attract development to his ward.
In Ward 3 central, Kingsley Ikott emerged as the ward Chairman. Speaking at the venue of the exercise, Chief Iniobong Idem praised the conduct of the exercise as a successful one, while Dr Tommy Enodien, Commissioner 2 in EARCOM, said, there were no challenges in the exercise, as everything went on successfully.
EX- GOVERNOR EMMANUEL LAUDS SUCCESSOR ON PEOPLE ORIENTED POLICIES AS ONNA PDP ELECTS WARD EXCOS
The immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has lauded his successor, Pastor Umo Eno for making the welfare of the people a top priority in his administration.
Emmanuel who spoke at the Qua Iboe Church Group School, venue of the Awa Ward 1 PDP ward Congress called for continuous support of the PDP administration in the state led by Pastor Umo Eno.
The former governor who promised to be available to synergise between the people and the government, urged the community to cherish and protect public facilities in their domain for their common interests so as to attract more infrastructure to the area.
While acknowledging the people’s unfailing love for the PDP, Mr Emmanuel assured that such confidence will never be taken for granted nor betrayed by the government.
On his part, the Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Onna, Barr. Ubong Adiakpan, told our reporter that large turned out of party faithful to elect the Ward Excos across the 15 Wards in Onna was a testimony of the people’s belief in the party, especially, in view of the superlative performance of the immediate past Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
According to him ” I’ve taken time to review the Congress in the wards, and the overwhelming response everywhere is that Onna is PDP and PDP is Onna”.
Similarly, the PDP Ward office in Oniong East Ward 1 experienced a mammoth crowd of Party faithful as Stakeholders, Former Ward Excos, Women and Youths of Oniong East Ward 1 elected Mr Ifreke Henry was elected Chairman alongside 16 other members of the Ward Executive.
In Awa ward 2, stakeholders converged at the Ward office to elect new Ward Executives with
Comrade John Ambrose emerging as the Ward Chairman and 16 new executives members to pilot the affairs of the ward.
Regardless, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Awa Ward 6 gathered at the Town Hall, Ikot Mbong to elect the ward executive committee to manage the affairs of the Party.
The Ward Returning Officer, Hon. Gideon Sambo, who directed the process as directed by the Party announced the election of Comrade Umoh Udofia as dely elected Ward Chairman of Ward 6 alongside sixteen other executive members.
Speaking with our reporter, a Former Member House of Representative and Honorary Special Adviser to Governor on Agriculture, Dr (Mrs) Owoidighe Ekpoattai expressed satisfaction in the peaceful conduct of the Ward Congress adding that it was testimony to the unity of purpose among PDP members.
In Oniong West Ward 3 as well as other Wards visited during the Congress, Stakeholders noted that they were satisfied in the process as it was transparent with no part of the Wards being shortchanged following a strict compliance of the zoning principle of the party.
ESIT EKET STAKEHOLDERS LAUD EXERCISE
Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Esit Eket have applauded Governor Umo Eno, over the peaceful conduct of the party’s ward Congress, saying that he is a peaceful leader, compassionate father and a true servant of God.
Some of the stakeholders who spoke to Journalists monitoring the process, appreciated the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for not interfering and for allowing a level playing ground for all those who participated, affirming that he is a true democrat and role model.
The Esit Eket PDP Chapter Chairman, Elder Eddy Etangkanga, held that the process through which all the newly ward Chairmen alongside other Executive members emerged was without any record of rancour, while commending the leadership of the party at all levels for demonstrating true leadership, noting that Esit Eket enjoys good political leadership with the likes of the political leader, Elder Ben Udobia and other stakeholders of the party who have invested in the party, progress and unity of the LGA.
In Ward 2&3 at the ward centre, Edo, being the ward where the political leader hails from, the exercise was freely conducted without any report of conflict.
Personal Assistants to the Governor, representing the wards, Mr. Unwana Evans and Elder Christian Assam, admitted that the entire process to elect new ward Executives in the wards was smooth and successful. Same was however established in other wards in the LGA.
