On Friday, August 17, 2018 began like every other day, but the memories it left in the minds of indigenes of Ikot Inyang community, in Ikot Ekpene local government area, will linger for a long time to come.
It was a day that Leo Umana, the Executive Director in the board of Akwa Ibom Internal Revenue Service, decided to say thank you to God, and his people, whom God has decided to use him as a pillar to raise.
The little known Ikot Inyang was a beehive of activities, as hundreds of youths, women, students and Elders of the community, got a share of Leo’s magnanimity and service to humanity.
Speaker after speaker, eulogized and poured encomiums on the Ikot Ekpene Son, whose journey so far, has pleased God and humanity at large.
At the occasion, were the Chairman of Ikot Ekpene, Mr.Unyime Etim, Councillors, Religious leaders,Journalists, Captains of Industries, Artisans, well wishers, etc.
Leading the pack as beneficiaries of Leo’s empowerment were, over 200 aged women, over a 100 traders, more than 100 students, and a little above 50 entrepreneurs and artisans.
Leo Umana has earned his success on the altar of service to others. He has been clotheless for others to be clothed. He has been hungry for others to feed. Leo Umana has given hopes to families.
A man who has redefined public office, and opened his doors to all and sundry, deserves commendation. Ask Leo why he decided to empower people when he is not a Commissioner or a State House Member,he quipped, it is for the support of my Boss, Governor Udom Emmanuel, and for his second term. He has been my benefactor, because God used him to give me an appointment, when men had despised me.
Leo Umana has not failed to always acknowledge the God factor in his life, as he is always full of praises for the Akwa Ibom State Governor.
In the words of Meister Elkhart, “If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.” Leo has proven beyond a thank you message to the Governor and the people, who has stood with him all these years.
Leo Umana is a Leader, a Mentor, an astute professional, and a thorough breed Performer. It is our desire as youths from Akwa Ibom, that someday, the seeds you have sown in the lives of people you know, and the unknown, will speak for you.
A higher office awaits you in no distant time. For even the Bible says, that he who is faithful in little, will be faithful in all. You have proven faithfulness in the little you have been entrusted with. A higher crown will meet you soon.
