The National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem has said that, the non refusal of the Attorney General of the Federation in connivance with the Federal Government led by Buhari, is the height of lawlessness that has been displayed so far. Expressing his opinion on the impasse, he said, This is one of the clearest abuses of the constitution.
The AGF of Nigeria can’t be right here.
This argument of conflict between individual right and national security has been raised over and over again in different bail applications for Dasuki.
In this last application, it was raised and the court overruled it and granted bail to a Nigerian citizen who’s been in jail for almost 3 years for corruption charges which are bailable under extant laws in Nigerian.
Bail was granted. Bail conditions which were even extremely very stringent were perfected . The Judge signed the bail papers.
Then the AG of the Federation as if seated on an appeal over the court’s order is contesting the vires and imprimatur of the court in a constitutional democracy we are supposed to run.
This is one of the saddest days in the history of democracy, constitutionalism and the rule of law.
This is a blatant travesty of the law. This is dictatorship rearing its head in the broad day light.
I really wish the AGF didn’t say anything. It would’ve been better he’s quiet. Enoidem said.
