No one has been left in doubt, the current economic situation in Nigeria, which has led to protests, riots, and sit-at-home in some parts of the South Eastern States.
In the midst of this reality, where there are wanton destruction of properties, looting and killings, in some parts of Nigeria, one man who saw tomorrow, deserves a high commendation yet again.
On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, Governor Umo Eno in his wisdom, called several stakeholders, including youths, students, civil society, the traditional institution and others, to a meeting at the banquet hall of the Government House, which further cemented the peace we enjoy today in the state.
That singular effort, averted the loss of lives and properties in Akwa Ibom State, in what we have witnessed, as a devastating blow on public and private facilities in other states.
Cometh a Leader, Cometh Pastor Umo Eno! The Governor led the template for other Governors to emulate, and called their youths for a dialogue, to which has become a huge success.
The storms are gathering in Nigeria, with some youths on rampage, making demands on the Federal Government, but we all await the outcome.
Governor Umo Eno did not coerced the youths of Akwa Ibom not to protest, he had even acknowledged that it was within their right to do so, but called for caution, which the youths listened to and adhered.
His Excellency stands out as one Governor, genuinely loved by all, across party lines. He is not a perfect man, but steadily, we are all seeing the direction of his leadership.
His mien and charisma, has saved the state alot, because who knows, what would have been the outcome, if Akwa Ibom State had joined the protests?
In the eyes of a stormy nation, Pastor Umo Eno reflects an exemplary style of leadership, which is emulated, how he does it, we do not know.
We are confident that, this cup of protests will pass away, but in the end, many will count their losses, but Akwa Ibom State will count their gains under the leadership of His Excellency.
I salute all the relevant stakeholders, who gave the Governor their commitment of non participation in the protests, and stood by it.
In a time like this, where people say one thing, and mean another, the youths of Akwa Ibom State are the MVPs.
I know that His Excellency, will always not forget this honour you have all done him and the state, and time, will be the greatest rewarder of all, who hearkened to the Governor’s voice of reasoning.
We have no other state to call our own, except Akwa Ibom State. If we destroy it, from whence, shall we go?
A REPUTATION FOUNDED ON INTEGRITY, MUST BE NURTURED BY TRUTH.
