Customers of Guaranty Trust Bank are at the verge of being defrauded by unscrupulous elements, due to the bank’s inability to resolve issues with its mobile application that has lasted over two months.
Trail Reporters spoke with some customers of the bank, who registered their frustrations, on what they have been through, and the bank’s non-challant attitude to respond to several complaints made about the mobile app, which has exposed their accounts to fraud.
“I have made several complaints to GTB, since the time they said the bank was doing upgrade on their software, two months after, I don’t get a mail about transactions on my accounts, I don’t know what is happening. A staff of the bank at the customer care in Uyo branch had tried all she could, but to no avail.
When you do a transfer, you don’t get to see the previous transaction and if someone sends money into your account, you won’t get the name of the person who sent the money, neither will you know who sent it, it is that bad with GTB in the past two months.
What this means is that, someone can hack into your account, and withdraw money, and you will never know if money has left the account or not. Anybody can do a transaction with your account, and you can never track the transaction, that is how worst the bank has become,” said Dr. Eneh John said.
Another customer, Victor Umanah, said, he can’t check any of his previous transactions, although he gets alert from the bank, but the story is the same with the bank’s mobile app, not allowing him to find his transactions.
“I no longer keep my money in GTB, once my salary enters, I transfer the money out, because I can’t take such a risk in keeping my money there, because I don’t understand why I won’t be able to see the transactions I carry out on my account,” Williams Williams, a GTB customer lamented.
Sms sent to GTB’s Media Consultant, Adekunle Adesola for reaction, said, “noted.”as at the time of this report.
