Text: Judges 16:27-31

The objective of this message is to help you avoid the error of not fulfilling a great destiny with special focus on Samson.
Every man is born with a destiny but unfortunately many have lived and died without fulfilling their destiny. The graveyard is about the richest place on earth because of the presence of untapped, unused, undiscovered, unreleased destinies, talents and gifts of people whose lives on earth could best be described as a total waste. It is God’s divine plan that every man fulfill his destiny as predestined by God the creator.
Our text focus is on a man called Samson. His birth was an answer to the cry of the entire nation of Israel. Samson came as a gift from God to Israel on a special mission to deliver the land and the people from the onslaught of the Philistines. Samson was great even before his birth. So special was he that he shared a similarity in his arrival on earth as that of our Lord Jesus. The bible records that an angel announced his birth and even gave his mother specifications on how the baby should be nurtured and trained (Judges 13:3-5).
Samson grew and did mighty things beyond the realm of the ordinary. He was destined to kill enemies and he did very well in that line. Whatever you were destined to do is what you will find ease in doing. For Samson, there was no difficulty in killing the philistines no matter how many they were. He was such a relieve to the people. The entire nation of Israel was dependent on Samson. His success meant the success of the nation while his failure meant the failure of the nation. However, Samson plunged into the realm of failure when he allowed himself to be distracted from his destiny focus. Today, Samson is remembered for many things except a fulfilled destiny. There was a dent in Samson’s destiny such that anytime his name is mentioned, what comes to mind first is ‘Delilah’. Briefly, lets take a look at some of the destiny flaws committed by Samson.
SOME ERRORS OF DESTINY COMMITTED BY SAMSON

1, HE FAILED TO UNDERSTAND THE IMPLICATION OF HIS DESTINY
Destiny demands among other things include that you know who you were meant to be. If you don’t know who you are, people will tell you who you are not. It’s unfortunate that there are still people who don’t know what they should do in life. Most students studying in tertiary institutions are actually studying the wrong course while others are struggling in the wrong business/profession. Knowledge of your destiny is of utmost importance. If you don’t know who you are, you will not know who you were meant to become. Samson lost touch with who he was created to be as a result his focus changed to something less relevant. Samson failed to understand that he carried the future of the entire nation so he lived carelessly. Destiny implication determines how a man response to the issues of life. You can’t be a man with a full grasp on your destiny yet you give up on it. No matter the challenges you may face in life, destiny focus will help strengthen your resolve to forge ahead and excel. It is not the air we breath that keeps us alive but destiny. No matter how bleak the present is, If you remember the past victory the future is secured.

2 HE FAILED TO UPHOLD THE PRINCIPLE THAT UPHOLDS HIS GREAT DESTINY
There are peculiarities to destiny implication. Like products, destinies have their implications to manifestation which failure to adhere can result in failure to fulfill the destiny. Every royalty has a rule that governs their public conduct. There is no Magistrate that will sit drinking at a pub. They conduct themselves worthy of their position and profession. Who you are determines what you do both in the public and in the secret. Our identity spells who we are to identify with. Lions don’t eat dead meat because Lions are kings in the jungle. They eat fresh meat. Eagles can never be seen among vultures because vultures don’t operate in their class. Who you are determines where/who you will be found with and what you do in life. Every man of greatness is a man of principle. Principles makes principality. Samson wasn’t a man of principle. He preferred going after a philistine than an Israelite. He spend more time with the wrong person than with his people. He was a man of great physical strength yet a man weak in principle. The real battle against Samson’s destiny couldn’t have been won by physical combat but by creating a hole in his principle.

3 HE FORGOT THE ROOT OF HIS GREATNESS
If you forget where you come from, you will soon find yourself drifting back there. Jacob forgot Bethel and then something happened that took him back to Bethel. The result of today is the fuel effect of yesterday. The investment you sink into your foundation determines how solid and durable the structure of your future will be. Whatever you did to rise to the top, maintain it to remain at the top. Anointing or gifting can take you to the top but bad character can bring you down. Samson failed to remember his roots. He forgot the ways, the lifestyle, the tenets of the Jews. His birth was special and so was he. There was a divine instruction on how he should live but he failed to adhere to these instructions. There is a secret to everyone’s greatness when you fail to pay attention to this secret you fall like pack of cards. To be and remain strong Samson needed to guard his hair with his life and abstain from alcohol. The enemy knew this and targeted at using what appeals to him to get to unravel the secret of his power. When you fail to sustain what took you up, you loose the ability to remain up. Every greatness has a root and the root is what keeps the mighty tree fastened to the ground else, wind pulls it down. No matter the storm against your greatness, if you are fastened to the root of your greatness you will never fall.

4 HE FAILED TO BE ACCOUNTABLE/SUBMIT TO AUTHORITY.

If you come to a point that people cannot caution you, you are like a plane without a pilot. You are bound to crash. Any master that is not a servant will soon crash. You cannot be in authority if you are not under authority. Every father must have a father. Flee from any man of God that you call a father but you don’t know his spiritual father. To be fatherless is to be futureless. Jesus was called master and He also had an authority He was responsible to. Samson became bigger than can be advised. He refused to heed the advice of his parent. No Israelite was to marry a heathen but Samson allowed his emotion to gain the upper hand over his life’s decision. He wasn’t accountable for his actions. We are surrounded by many irresponsible young men who are only responsible for pregnancies out of wedlock.
