2 The Heart Of Joyfulness. (Psalm 100:2)
Gladness is related to singing praise. When you are joyous you sing without a reason. A heart of joyfulness helps you overcome the heat of depression. People who are joyous tend to flourish. Joy is a health booster and long life guarantor. Whatever dries up your joy is capable of drying you up. Joel 1:12 says ‘’The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.’’ Joy works like a fertilizer, it nourishes life. Blessings manifest more and increases when the blessed is given to a life of continuous joy. The money in your hands can multiply if you allow joy to reign in your heart. Though Jesus was faced with the challenge of finding food to feed His followers, he did not give a chance in his heart. The bible says he raised the five loaves and two fishes, gave thanks and asked the disciples to share. In the process of sharing, the food multiplied. Don’t get mad at that salary yet, give thanks to God for that little and it will increase. Suffice it to say that joy is a way making, increase producing, life sustaining, health boosting and result producing phenomenon. No matter what happens in life, always choose joy.
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU JOYOUS
1. REVELATION FROM THE WORD
When your eyes are opened to see marvelous revelation from the Lord, your heart is filled with joy. Revelation elevates and makes you bubble with joy. Virgin Mary received the word from God and she was filled with joy. She started praising God while waiting for the manifestation. When your book opens, your life opens. When your life opens, light shines. Nothing makes life sweet like expectation. Illumination brings celebration. If a man can rejoice just because a governor promised him money, how much more when God- the governor of governors gives you His word? Whenever you mix the word you receive with joy, you have given the word a good soil for it to grow and manifest. Virgin Mary caught the revelation from the message of Angel Gabriel and in an instant she desist from asking questions but rejoiced. Don’t just read the bible seek for revelation. Don’t just listen to that audio message, listen well to catch a revelation. Revelation is like finding a treasure or a fortune that was hidden for centuries. It gives you unspeakable joy knowing that your life is better off due to discovering the fortune. God’s joy comes through revelation from His word.
2. FAITH IN GOD (I Peter 1:8; Romans 4:20; Psalm 106:12)
Faith in God is a trigger of joy. Doubt connects people to depression. When faith is alive, joy is alive. The bible says that Abraham ‘staggered not’ this means he didn’t give doubt a chance. So doubts makes people stagger and fall but faith makes them stand firm and win. He was old yet his faith in God kept him joyous. The promises delayed but he remained joyous. His faith fuelled his joy. Have you observed that whenever you promise to get a gift for a child, that child will continually remain excited and even tell her friends about the gift. The faith and hopes of that child is raised such that she celebrates the gift before it arrives. That is how our faith in God should be. Let every new day meet you joyous and leave you faith-filled about the promises of God. Feed your faith and starve that fear and you will find joy.
3. KINGDOM ASSIGNMENT (Luke 10:17)
Impact is a secret of joyfulness. Whenever you complete a kingdom assignment, it provokes joy. I have seen people who get nothing after giving. Even in the church, when you give grudgingly, it yields no blessing. That is why in our church I don’t compel people to give. It must come from their heart. Personally I don’t compel discipleship, if I do the person won’t be blessed. Every true giver usually finds joy in giving. Every kingdom builder usually finds fulfillment and satisfaction in contributing to the kingdom. When you are faithful to the course of kingdom heritage, it brings so much joy. Even in a strange land, Nehemiah was still thinking about kingdom responsibilities that he had to abandon the luxury in the palace to embark on the rebuilding of Jerusalem. Stay committed to the course of ministering to the sick, the less privileged, giving to the poor, singing in the choir, preaching the gospel, funding church projects, supporting ministry outreaches, affecting lives positively. Real joy comes by making others rejoice.
4. PERSONAL DECISION (Hab 3:17)
Where you make up your mind to be joyous. To rejoice is a choice. It is a personal decision. It is a situation where your joy is at the mercy of no one. Hab 3:17 ‘’Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls. Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.’’ True joy is not determined by events around us but by the knowledge of the truth we have. Rejoicing may not seem likely possible in the face of challenges but when you make up your mind to be immune to sadness, the tide will eventually turn. Make-up your mind. Fix your mind on being joyous irrespective of issues.
5. RIGHTEOUSNESS OF HEART (Psalm 51:12)
Sin is a killer of joy. A man with conscience can never sin and have peace of mind. Sin causes you to hide your face in shame and cheats you of joy. Clear conscience gives reason to rejoice. Righteousness is a joy booster. Sin brings guilt and guilt dries joy. Psalm 51:12 says restore unto me the joy of my salvation. This means that sin interrupts and interferes with the joy of salvation leaving a Christian dry. When you live right, your have peace of mind and joy. I can tell you that people that makes money through criminal means don’t have peace of mind. Forget the exotic cars. Forget the way they smile in public. Most of them live in pains and regret. If an opportunity is given them, they wouldn’t sell their soul for riches. Don’t envy the rich criminal for their lives vanish faster. Rejoice in the lord for the little you have, live a righteous life and the faithful God will satisfy you with good things.
