Findings from Kogi State shows that, constituents from Kogi West Senatorial District, has begun the process of recalling Dino Melaye as their Representative at the Senate.
On saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), opened a recall register at different polling units to initiate the process of demand from the senatorial district.
Earlier in June, protesters who gathered at the stadium said, they were fed up with what they described as “continuous embarrassment” and poor representation by Dino, hence the resolve to recall him.
According to media reports, a spokesman of the protesters, Pius Kolawole, said they were from the seven local government areas that make Kogi West and had listed 18 offences allegedly committed by Dino upon which they based their demand for his recall.
The protesters later moved from Kabba Township Stadium, where they proceeded to the INEC office in Lokoja.
“Let it be known that all the seven local government areas, comprising Kogi West senatorial zone are united in their resolve to recall Senator Dino Melaye and remove the disgrace he has become to all us,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dino Melaye has accused Governor Yahaya Bello of allegedly sponsoring his recall with one billion Naira, despite owing civil servants in the state.
But the Governor has denied any hand in Melaye’s recall process.
