It was motivational speaking of some sort when the National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, admonished the people of Etim Ekpo, especially the youth folks over the weekend, during an enlarged Etim Ekpo get together, which took place at the Council Secretariat grounds, to make substantial use of the year 2020. He noted that “every emerging year would always present itself with diverse opportunities for people to grow, make maximum impact and succeed in their different niche areas, and field of endeavors, but it will only take someone who is prepared to grasp such opportunities”.
Enoidem who used the occasion of the get together to charge the youths to abhor tendencies that would make them not to be useful to themselves and achieve their set goals for 2020, explained that in every individual is embedded the capacity to be great depending on what he or she desires to be and as well wants to make out of life’s existence.
He particularly charged those who are addicted to drinking to renounce such addiction while channeling such energies and addictive prowess into something more productive and worthwhile. “you can take a day off or stay a day without drinking for those of you who makes drinking a chronic habit, so that you can have time to think and plan better for the year. This year is pregnant with benefits, but you can only participate in its benefits if you can position yourself in a direction that is good enough to be able to cash into the benefits”. Adding that, “there can never be anything new about the new year without a new you”.
While assuring the people of Etim Ekpo of the renewed hope and empowerment opportunities that abound in the year 2020, premised on the new crop of leaders and representatives that constitute the leadership front in Etim Ekpo. He encouraged the youths to brace themselves up for the numerous Human Capacity Development opportunities that shall be made available by the new visionary leaders that now characterise the new Etim Ekpo.” The Etim Ekpo of our collective dreams and desires – Enoidem muttered.
The National Legal Adviser, took ample time out to expound to the people in confidence that Etim Ekpo now have a new leadership front who are adequately passionate about the development of Etim Ekpo and its people. “We are now in an era were we would not have to fill forms at the gate before seeing our leaders and representatives. We are blessed to have elected people oriented leaders in the just concluded general elections. Those who are sincerely committed and passionate about the development of Etim Ekpo.
Going forward, in their different submissions, the Member Representing Etim Ekpo and Ika State Constituency, Elder Mfon Idung and the Executive Chairman of Etim Ekpo, Hon. Udeme Eduo, reassured the people of their abiding faith in God to use them and put smiles on the faces of the people. Reassuring that they are fully committed to the security, development and wellbeing of the people. While Elder Mfon Idung particularly stressed on his vision to provide the youths with sustainable skill acquisition trainings and as well stimulate job opportunities for unemployed graduates, and Scholarship Awards for Students. Hon. Udeme Eduo, specifically emphasised on political inclusiveness, infrastructure and Human Capital Development.
While reiterating the continued support of Etim Ekpo people to the Governor, the National Legal Adviser, also used the occasion of the get together to appreciate the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for keeping to his promise towards inundating the state with infrastructural and industrial renaissance. Saying that “His Excellency, the governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, is a God fearing Man who has the interest of Etim Ekpo and by extension Akwa Ibom people at heart”.
The get together which was well attended by the high and mighty of the politics of Etim Ekpo including traditional leaders had in attendance, the Member Representing Etim Ekpo and Ika State Constituency, Elder Mfon Idung, Executive Chairman, Etim Ekpo LGA, Hon. Udeme Eduo, Hon. Uduot Jack, Board Member, AKROIMA, Barr. Nse Ekanem, Chairman Law Reforms Board, Mr. Ekpuk Eshiet, Board Member, AKISIEC, Elder Eseme Udoka, Hon. Udeme Affia, Chief Ise Ekpoudom, Mr. Monday Udourom, Hon. Godson Uwah, Traditional Leaders, led by the Paramount Ruler of Etim Ekpo LGA, His Royal Highness, Obong (Prof.) Amanam Udo, Political Stalwarts, Councillors, Religious Leaders, Women and Youths amongst others.
