Daniel 1:8-20
Day by day it is becoming more proven that this platform is a set up for you to be greatly blessed. I have received several testimonies as a confirmation that just by reading our messages, people have had their miracles. You are the next to testify.

Living At Your Best is a message for the season. We live in times when values and principles of life are thrown into the trash can. The society is faced with decay of dilapidated character and reckless living has become fashionable. God wants you to be the best wherever you are. In your office, school, neighborhood anywhere you find yourself you have to be the best. It takes our personal effort to work out our salvation. Phil 2:12 says ’…work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.’ So it takes personal effort to make life worth living and at the end make positive impact.

The bible gives a clear cut guide on living life at the best. Daniel in our text was a young slave held in captivity in the foreign land of Babylon. He refused to compromise his faith. He refused to reduce his standards and he refused to shift his stance and because of this God made him 10 times better than others in the land. There are few things we need to see in the life of Daniel that made him live at his best.

1, HE WAS A MAN WHO ELEVATED PRINCIPLE ABOVE PLEASURE:
There are people who take pleasure more important in life. Principles of life must not be compromised. When a man decides to elevate pleasure above principle he completely misses the essence of life. Daniel did not joke with the Jewish principles even while in a strange land. He did not allow the enticing appearance of pleasure to blind him from doing the right thing. He was conscious of who he was such that he refused to eat the food of the king which was dedicated to idols. The bible says in verse 5 ‘’And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat…’’ The king’s meat must have been the best food in Babylon but as enticing and mouthwatering as it was Daniel was principle-conscious. On the balance, always let principle weigh heavier than pleasure. Refuse to lower your standards for anything. Refuse to change your mind over anything that is good. Never allow negativity influence your decisions and choices in life. Never base your life’s decisions on emotion and frivolities. Principles may not be appealing but the outcome will be applaudable.

2,) HE WAS A MAN WHO ELEVATED CONSCIENCE ABOVE CONVENIENCE:
For a slave who probably was malnourished or starved to refuse the king’s food, It means he knew who he was. Daniel was a man with a strong conscience who would rather not sell his peace of mind for any form of convenience. Its unfortunate that we have people today who have sealed their conscience with hot iron, they can say anything and do anything to anybody without recourse to its outcome. The world we live in today is more spiritual than how we know. With mere acceptance of money from the wrong source you would have successfully exchanged your soul spiritually. By merely uttering that careless word you would have committed your soul to eternal covenant that your entire generation will live to suffer for. Esau didn’t have to make a written agreement to exchange his birthright but just by that ‘innocent’ statement he traded places with his younger brother both spiritually and physically. Be careful that convenience don’t override conscience.

3,) HE WAS GIVEN TO PLEASING GOD THAN PLEASING MAN:
Don’t fear mortals rather fear the immortal God. Daniel never cared who gave the command rather he cared about who the last commander is. When you are connected to God you are connected to the source. If God be for you who do you think can be against you? The three Hebrew boys knew the God whom they served and they feared Him else they wouldn’t have dared a king as fearsome as Nebuchadnezzar. When I caught this revelation I screamed out loud. Since then I can never bow my knees to any mortal being. I happen to meet men in positions of authority and I give them due respect but I can never place them above my God. I am known to be a man of God that speaks the truth irrespective of who is aggrieved. I cannot change my message just because it will expose a big politician who is in church. NEVER. I have a stand with God and I determine to please him always.

4) HE PREFERED TO BE CONTROVERSIAL INSTEAD OF BEING INCONSEQUENTIAL:
Make your life count on earth. Never go with popular opinions especially when it is the wrong opinion. Don’t move with the trend and the wave of the times. Daniel, by refusing the king’s food, must have been perceived to be a proud man but he preferred to be controversial. It is better to be right before your maker than be right before your mockers. You cant stand genuinely with God and think the world will love you, they will see your views, your choices, your decisions and ways annoying. Don’t expect darkness to appreciate light. When you are the only person that refuse bribe other colleagues will see you as an alien but don’t change your stance.

5,) HE DECIDED TO IDENTIFY WITH GOD BOTH SECRETLY AND OPENLY:
How you stand with God determines how He stands with you in life. When your location and condition cannot change your conviction about God, your conviction will eventually change your condition. Make up your mind about God. Joshua told the Israelites in Joshua 24:15 ‘’Choose you this day whom you will serve…as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. When you make up your mind about God, He will make you in life. Don’t be a Christian in Uyo but turn to a kidnapper in Abuja. Daniel stood with God both in freedom and in captivity. He prayed at all times and so even when a ban was placed on all forms of prayers he still stood his grounds by continuing in the lifestyle of prayers. When you stand with God you cannot fall among men. The God you stand for can never allow you fall.

6) HE WAS TOO AFRAID OF GOD TO BE AFRAID OF MAN:
Daniel was severally attacked by men but he wasn’t afraid of them. They conspired against him but he was inspired to pray the more. He didn’t fear the king rather he feared the King of Kings. He knew that if man did not give him life then man cannot take it away. Fear of the immortal God gives you power over the threats of mortal men. It is impossible to fear God and also fear life situations.

7) HE LIVED A LIFE OF PURPOSE WITH A SENSE OF PURPOSE:
A man driven by purpose will always live on purpose. Men of purpose don’t live life based on chance. Daniel lived at his best because of purpose that’s why he remained in government for years. No man is strong enough to oppose your purpose. Nothing conquers resistance like persistence.
