The election tribunal case between chief Alex Egbona and Rt. Hon. John Gaul has taken a new dimension as Agbara community in Ekureku, Abi LGA banished one of his own for supporting the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in court.

According to information reaching our newsroom this morning, Evans Bassey, a member of the PDP from the said community was in court yesterday to testify on behalf of his party that elections didn’t hold in his community.

On getting back to Agbara, he received several threats from the community, he is said to be a traitor of the community.

This morning, the town crier was heard announcing that the young man has been banished from the community and should leave the community with immediate effect.

I wonder when community started involving themselves in such level of politics that it has generated to this level? Does the village head or chiefs not know that there’s freedom of association enshrined in our constitution?

This is so absurd and barbaric. Please something urgently needs to be done because that young man’s life is no longer save.
