MUGABE AMASSED $1BN AND A RARE ROLLS ROYCE WORTH MORE THAN ZIMBABWE’S ECONOMY

Part of the deal Robert Mugabe entered with the military in Zimbabwe before he finally agreed to resign as the country’s president was that: His property, big or small will not be seized. That of his wife will also not be impounded. And in addition, he must not be probed regardless of whatever may be the gravity of his maladministration, corruption and mindless looting of the country’s money.

This man called Mugabe happens to be seen as the Mandela of Zimbabweans due to his good work which gave birth to the independence of the country. His struggle for his country’s freedom deserves million accolades. As a matter of fact, he ought to be a monumental sculpture that should be erected in all the states in his country. And possibly, other states in African countries. Like the governor in Imo State had done by erecting a South Africa president, Zuma Jacob’s statue. As a mark of honour to whatever reason best known to him.

But going by Robert Mugabe’s wanton looting of his state’s resources, one with a true mind of patriotism will not condone such act. Therefore, it suffices to say that the abnormal time he spent rulling Zimbabweans is not with good motive to enhance the standard of living of the common masses. Rather, we see him as being rapacious and insatiable with power and embezzlement of what should be for the general welfare of all. Is that good?

Take Nelson Mandela of South Africa for instance, after all he did to bring freedom during the apartheid struggle, when he finally achieved his goal, how many years did he rule his people before he stepped down? You will see that Nelson is a true epitome of a patriot in his time. And not one who wants to turn a nation to his family inheritance.

If Mugabe deserves my regard and the collective regards of meaningful Africans around the globe, let him return if not all, but a reasonable portion of all he stole from the country’s coffer back to the government. Thieves are not honoured whether dead or alive.
