NASS 2019: UYO STUDENTS’ ENDORSE MICHAEL ENYONG FOR SECOND TERM

Lagos –A cross section of students from Uyo Federal constituency on Friday, endorsed Hon Michael Enyong to run for a second term in office.

The leader, Mr Ekpedeme Udofia who led some students of the University of Lagos on a surprised visit to the Hon member, expressed their support on his all inclusive and transparent representation.

The delegation, which passed a vote of confidence on Michael Enyong, also presented a certificate of credence to him for his pursuit of peace and empowerment of women and the youths.

“As pragmatic and visionary indigenes of Uyo federal constituency, we can see through the veil of distraction and boldly applaud your representation for empowerment, educational assistance to students and social transformation.
“We have unflinchingly determined to put all political detractors and evil geniuses to shame in 2019 by giving you the singular and total support of all the students in the Uyo federal constituency.

Udofia noted that in order to actualise this, the students will float a “campaign for Uyo peace” to champion this cause.

They commended him for his support to the students and youths by facilitating the employment of more eighty sons and daughters of Uyo federal constituency.
According to him, the employment included the relation to the current House member for Uyo state constituency and Mr Enobong Gideon respectively.

Responding, Hon Michael Enyong while expressing his love and support for the students commended its leadership for consistent constructive engagement in making Akwa Ibom state great.
“Especially at this time when some people take advantage of every situation without concern for peace.
“This really shows that our youths are coming of age and that they can be relied upon in the task of nation building.

“Today, our youths in the tertiary institutions are hard-working and are hopeful of a better future for this country, in spite of our challenges,’’ the federal lawmaker said.

He urged them to continue in their constructive engagements on state issues and lend voices to positive moves in the interest of the federal constituency.

“You should continue to champion the cause of peace in our federal constituency as no state progresses in an atmosphere of insecurity.
“As students, you cannot stay in school if there is no peace. Therefore do not allow anyone to use you as agents of destabilisation.

“You must resist the temptation of being used by some selfish politicians as thugs during elections.

“You should learn to be patriotic and not be a willing tool in the hands of those bent of sowing seeds of discord among our people,’’ he charged them.

He promised to continue in carrying everyone along in his representation.
