NIGERIA’S NATIONAL ID CARD IS USELESS, CITIZEN LAMENTS

Godsent Sadoh

A Nigerian citizen, Godsent Sadoh has lamented some issues surrounding the issuance and renewal of the Nigerian management identity card.

Godsent said, “There’s nothing good about that thing called National ID card and I can’t spend my kobo to renew it or get a replacement. I have been trying to registered a company in Europe and USA for months now. It was Nigerian Voters’ Card that help me out not National ID Card when they requested for my National ID card since I claim I am from Nigeria.

While we thought everything was almost done I was asked to provide ID card that’s issued by Nigerian Government that doesn’t expired (i.e National ID card), I was surprise when I noticed that my National ID Card has an expiring date. My Nigeria National ID card was called fake in USA because it has an expiring date. When I later use my voters’ card in place of National ID card, the whole issue became more complicated. It was God that intervene in the whole process, the money I spent in registering the company would have gone for nothing because of someone’s myopic mindset in National Identity Management Commission’s Office.

If USA and other European nations should requested an ID that’s issued by Nigeria government from me, it shows that in their respective countries there’s permanent National ID card. Where do we learn expiring date on National ID card from?

Who brought the whole issue of expiring date in a National ID Card? Does that mean in four years time I am no longer a Nigerian? I have stopped seeing National ID card as a means of identification even before recent madness from NIMC’s office was made public, I rather see it as money making venture. I can’t even go to NIMC office for that valueless thing for free not to talk of spending a kobo on it.

Getting it right is still very far from us.”
