NSIMA EKERE: THE MAKING OF A NEW NIGER DELTA REGION

“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the modern obsolete.” –Buckminster Fuller

Nsima Ekere’s quest to build a new model of the Niger Delta region has been driven by his passion for service, and quest for result delivery.

Since emerging as the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission in 2016, Nsima Ekere has overtimes, separated development from politics, in his resolve to see a new Niger Delta region under his watch.

Born in May 29, 1965, Nsima’s resolve to establish a new phase in the Niger Delta, has seen him transverse the length and breadth of the region, in search of a regional integration between the nine states of the region.

From a near comatose state in the Commission, his coming on board has heralded a fresh breath in the region and made the commission, a business destination, for both private and public corporations. He has previously said that his dream is to leave a master plan for the NDDC, which will surpass time.
Nsima has endeared himself to the people of the Niger Delta, within this short period in the helm of affairs at the NDDC.

The NDDC MD has often displayed sterling qualities and technical knowhow, back in his days as the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom, under Godswill Akpabio, Chairman, Akwa Ibom Investment and Industrial Promotion Council, (AKIIPOC), and as Chairman, Ibom Power Company. With over twenty seven years of leadership experiences, Nsima has proven to be a force to be reckoned with, in both the private and public sector as an expert in managerial acumen.

Largely established in the field of estate management as an authority, he has been an employer of labour, with his firm, Ekere and Associates, cutting across states.

In furtherance of the scripture, which says, “Seest thou a man diligent in his works? He shall stand before kings and not mean men.” Nsima has towered higher as an accomplished businessman, father, and above all, a leader. His ascension to the position of the managing director of Nigeria’s oil region did not come to many as a surprise.

In his about one year administration as the MD of NDDC, we have witnessed a drastic reduction to hostilities and pipeline vandalism in the region. Repositioning the commission to work, and execute projects in the Niger Delta Region, has seen a facelift, in some states of the Niger Delta, where the presence of the almost moribund NDDC before his coming, has been felt. We have witnessed the revocation of contracts hitherto awarded to contractors, who had either abandoned the projects, or absconded.

Nsima has shown that, for every office occupied, it is workable to create an impact in the lives of people you oversee. He understands that, his administration in the NDDC will come and go, hence his reasons to depart with lasting legacies, when his time comes calling.

It is evidently clear in the last one year, that given a higher office, he will act right. The ultimate aim of every leader should be, to use the position they occupy, to touch the lives of the people, on whose mandate, they hold in trust.

We have seen today, roads constructed under his leadership, bridges built across boards. Today, we see a new Niger Delta under the watchful eyes of Nsima Ekere.
It is our collective belief that this Akwa Ibom son, will continue to act well, in the interest of the region, and Nigeria at large.

May his stay in the Niger Delta Development commission, continue to herald good things in the region.

A REPUTATION FOUNDED ON INTEGRITY, MUST BE NURTURED BY TRUTH.
