Okon youths and women under the group known and called Okon youth caucus and leadership council has poured encomiums on Gov. Udom Emmanuel for awarding of construction of Ikot Obiota/Ikot Ukpong that was abandoned by the contractor since 2003 during Obong Attah’s government.
The youths and women who gathered in their numbers,were hosted to a thank you meeting by one of the leading contenders in the just concluded house of assembly primaries,Hon. Ekanem Willie.
Hon. Ekanem Willie in his welcome remarks thank the youths and women of the area for their show of love and support before,during and the primaries and advised them to continue to keep faith with the PDP and the government of Udom Emmanuel and his re election.
Setting the tone of the meeting, Hon. Edemekong Jacob who is a former councillor of Okon Dev. Ward 2 said he was very please with Hon. Ekanem Willie for being a good sportsman and commend him for always calling his people to appreciate at various level soon after the nomination and concluded by saying that its only Hon. Willie that has been able to do this amongst all those who contested the primaries in the local Government.
Responding the Youth President of Okon,Comrade Vincent Henry thanked Hon. Ekanem for always being with the grass root and promise that the youths will always believe in his(Hon. Willie)leadership and assured the gathering of Okon youth support for Udom Emmanuel.
Another speaker, Thompson Thompson called on the stakeholders of PDP to sit back and fame up the zoning of positions to avoid a repeat of what happened in the last nomination and went further to frown at a situation where board members and Special Assistant to the Governor were picked from the ward of Hon. Commissioner for health, thereby over loading that area and leaving others wards empty without any appointment.
The meeting which took place at Green Pasture Hotel had in attendance Youths,women and some major stakeholders of PDP in Okon Zone.
