Reports reaching us from Offa, Kwara State, says, over twelve policemen and six civilians have been killed yesterday, Thursday, in a bank robbery at Offa, Kwara State.
Banks said to be affected, according to our sources, are First Bank, Zenith Bank, Union Bank, Eco Bank and Guaranty Trust Bank.
According to an eye witness account,
Yusuf Adebayo, he said, “I went from office to office inside the police stations to see different scene.
I also witnessed the return of the hilux truck loaded with corpse to the police station arround 6:30pm when the mortuary was filled. All the police inside the station were killed.
The numbers of the police killed inside the station and outside exceed a dozen. Others were also killed in banks and on the roads. I put the total at over 20 people. Its the worse of the worst.”
Reports say, the alleged robbers blocked roads from both Ilorin and Oshogbo and entered Owode Police Station in the metropolis.
The suspected robbers we learnt, made away with millions of naira after shattering bank buildings, terrorising workers, customers and passersby, as well as traders and other people in the vicinity.
The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the robbery incident on phone.
