A Nigerian police officer, yesterday, allegedly shot a young woman at Oba market area in Onitsha, the Anambra State Capital.
According to Trail Reporters ources , the Policeman said, it was an accidental discharge.
We gathered that, angry youths mobbed the police officer and striped him naked in an attempt to set him ablaze before the intervention of some of the union leaders in the market.
Another source who spoke with our medium said, It happened in front of our house but not in Oba mkt. It is along Owerri-Onitsha Expressway. A truck driver and his conductor had a problem and started fighting. On the process, these policemen were invited. They charged some money for bailout of both fighters. The owner of the truck was called on the phone as well. So, he bargained with the policemen and later excused himself to go and get the money charged for the bailout.
In his absence, his wife and the policemen started exchanging words. She told the policeman that shot her that she would call militants for him and the carnivorous police cocked his gun and shot her.
He took to his heels and ran to a nearby bush but the youths fished him out. Now, my anger is this: why didn’t these boys set him ablaze with his uniform before anybody’s intervention? Which nonsense union? If it were to fight, ‘pick-pockets’ and smoke marijuana now, they will not be told what to do and how to do it.”
The spokesman for the police command in Anambra, could not be reached as at the time of this report.
