Reports circulating on the media space suggests that, a supporter of Governor Udom Emmanuel, Abasiodu Edet, who hails from Ikot Akpa Nkuk, in Ukanfun Local Government Area, has written to the Governor, against the choice of Mrs.Ekaette Ebong Okon, as his running mate in the 2019 Governorship elections in the state.
We want to let Abasiodu and others, who have read the letter, purportedly made available to weekly insight newspapers, that never a time did the Governor discuss with Abasiodu that he was considering Ekaette Ebong as his running mate in 2019. The writer and others, should not try to preempt the Governor into taking decisions.
In the instance where the Governor decides to drop Moses Ekpo, why will Abasiodu be miffed? When the Governor decides who to run on the party’s ticket with him.
The writer had gone ahead to thank the Governor for reappointing “his friend,” Mr.Udo Ekpenyong, as the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, because it soothes Abasiodu’s interest.
In an attempt to get credence, he had attempted to drag the National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem, to his watered letter, which has always been spread by elements of the opposition party.
Barr.Enoidem worked as a Commissioner under Governor Udom Emmanuel, before he resigned to contest elections as NLA, where he emerged, and holds a strong relationship with the Governor.
Abasiodu cannot love the people of Abak 5 more than Enoidem. Else, how could one juxtapose a situation where “Enoidem begged to be Deputy Governor in 2014” and rejected the same position in 2018?
Does it mean that Abasiodu is now a personal aide to the Governor, and at the same time, an aide to Enoidem, to be privy to all the alleged meetings and advices he purported,Enoidem gave to the Governor?
If there is one man that has contributed immensely to see the Governor return for a second term, that man is Emmanuel Enoidem. People like Abasiodu, whose real identity is yet to be ascertained, can keep dreaming.
Until the choice of a Deputy Governorship candidate is made by the Governor, we expect that everyone should keep calm.
On the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District candidate of the Party, stakeholders of the Party in the area, took the decision to allow Chris Ekpeyong fly the flag of the party. It was never a sole decision of Enoidem. There was a zoning arrangement in 2014 which stands, and even the All Progressives Congress is religiously following it.
Barrister Enoidem has contributed immensely to the development of Akwa Ibom State, and has always offered himself for service, when called upon. It is people like Abasiodu that sees politics as a game of malice.
The NLA has stated clearly, on occasions, that he still respects Akpabio and love him as his brother, but nothing binds them anymore politically. One would have expected that Abasiodu will provide the tape of conversations between Enoidem and Akpabio in the last one month, rather than ask the Governor to do so.
There is no amount of campaign of calumny, that can deter the NLA from staying committed to seeing to the Governor’s re-election in 2019.
Dragging the names of PDP members in the state into your supposed letter, is another failed attempt to cause disunity in the Party, which is dead on arrival.
We will further advice those trying to discredit the Governor, Barrister Enoidem and members of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State, to arm themselves with information and not tissues of lies being peddled.
