Press Statement.
Investigative Journalism is a critical and core aspect of the reputable pen profession. It requires careful approach and can be very time consuming depending on the matter under investigation.
Reports produced from investigations must not be based on speculations, devoid of humours, hear-say and beer parlour gists. It follows that investigated reports must be issue based, well articulated and must be authentic facts and figures obtained from credible sources.
The facts obtained, both oral and documentary, are critically authenticated, analysed and in some cases expert opinions are sought before publication. Therefore in an attempt to prove facts and figures, documentary evidence are in some cases published. This is the way to go, not speculative or hear-say investigative journalism.
It is on this note that I respectfully urge the general public particularly the good people of Delta State to disregard the latest odious lies published by Fejiro Oliver’s SecretReporters captioned:
“ASABA AIRPORT BURIAL GROUP: GOV. OKOWA’S DECEPTIVE ACT TO DELTANS THROUGH HIS BUFFOONERY EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT ON COMMUNICATION LATIMORE.”
The senseless out pour of anger associated with the report ostensibly revealed that SECRETREPORTERS is not yet in the class of credible online investigative newspapers. At best, it remains a “blackmail medium” for some invisible hands.
I stand by my ealier assertions that it is not within the professional routine or duty of SecretReporters to make public declarations on air or airport safety, upgrade assessments and certifications.
That duty is squarely on the shoulders of accredited and recognised aviation regulatory bodies and or agencies; Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) not Fejiro Oliver and his unprofessional SecretReporters (whatever that name represents).
Asaba International Airport is not and will never be a BURIAL GROUND, not during the life-span of this administration and not anytime thereafter. The Airport is one of the pride of Delta State.
Upon completion of the ongoing upgrade construction and rehabilitation project, recognised aviation regulatory agencies shall conduct inspection and make their findings known to the general public and flights into the airport shall increase as heavy duty commercial planes; B-737, 300, 400, 700 series shall resume daily scheduled flights by Air Peace, Arik Air, Aero Contractors, et al.
For now, only Dash 8-300, 400 series operates into Asaba International Airport daily by Aero and Arik airlines respectively.
On the Doctorate degree of Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, it is very clear that Fejiro Oliver and his SecretReporters do not conduct proper investigations before rushing to the press. The reputation of SecretReporters is seriously at stake and it is a pity for the management. Their corporate image is in the gutters for now!
Hear the truth: Word of Power do not offer Doctorate Degree programmes. TREEM CHURCH of Bishop Okonkwo are the proprietors of Word of Power Group of Schools (Primary Schools) where my daughter (Precious) graduated in 2012. She is now an SS 3 student at the Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS).
In 2012, during her gradution from Word of Power Primary School in Lagos, I attended (with my wife) as a parent, special guest and as a guest speaker. I wore my prestigious academic gown to the event as a guest speaker. I made a post of the event on my facebook wall which Fejiro Oliver and SecretReporters misinterpreted to be a week Doctorate Theology programme. You are free to laugh please!
In the light of the above, it can be safely asserted that Fejiro Oliver and SecretReporters are far away from the corridors of positive and accurate investigative journalism. It appears that “blackmail” is the “stock-in-trade” of SecretReporters.
It must be stated that apart from the doctorate degree, the Executive Assistant on Communication to the Governor of Delta State, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (2nd class upper division) in Political Science from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), a Masters Degree in Public and International Affairs (MPIA) from the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG), a Law Degree (LL.B) from UNILAG, a Barriater-at-Law Post Graduate Qualifying Certificate from the prestigious Nigerian Law School (Council of Legal Education), Call to Bar Certificate by the Body of Benchers and a Diploma Certificate in Public Administration (DPA) from the University of Benin (UNIBEN), et al.
The onus of proof is still in the door step of Fejiro Oliver and his quack SecretReporters on the issue of Oghenesivbe’s doctorate degree and upgrade of Asaba International Airport.
His Excellency the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa will remain focused and unwavering in his responsibility to consistently provide good governance for the good people of Delta State as encapsulated in the famous SMART AGENDA of this administration.
