The attention of the office of the Honourable Member Representing Uyo Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Michael Enyong, has been drawn to an infantile and cheap blackmail promoted by one Rev. Richard Peters.
The notorious Rev. Richard Peters has said in his fairy-tale that the youths of Ikot Okubo Offot in Uyo Local Government Area under the umbrella of Ikot Okubo Mandate Group have rejected Hon. Michael Enyong’s second term ambition to represent Uyo Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
These tissues of lies by Rev. Peters read in part, “the youths numbering over 160, registered their displeasure with Enyong’s representation during a meeting yesterday in Uyo. Carrying out an appraisal of Enyong’s representation at the National Assembly, the people disclosed that Michael Enyong who is popularly known as Baba Ntan, is a waste to the Federal Constituency, as he has not carried out any productive venture since inception of his stay at the Green Chambers.”
Ordinarily, we would have dismissed this silly and baseless rantings of Rev. Peters as another naked dance of shame from a fallen priest of the African Church, who is famous for lies and deceits and controversies, but we feel constrained to respond so that the unsuspecting members of the public will not be deceived by him.
First, we state here that the purported rejection of Hon. Michael Enyong by youths of Ikot Okubo Offot under the umbrella of Ikot Okubo Mandate Group is a nonexistent event. It never happened. It only happened in the warped mind of Rev Richard Peters.
To prove his sanity and mental balance, we challenge Rev Peters to publish names and phone numbers of attendees at the purported meeting of the youths of Ikot Okubo Offot. We challenge him too to publish the names and phone numbers of the EXCO members of the Ikot Okubo Mandate Group.
For the past two weeks, Rev. Peters has concocted a lot of lies against Hon. Michael Enyong, and used very insulting and insolent words on the Federal lawmaker. And we strongly take an exception to that.
We wish to inform Rev Peters and his ilks that Hon. Dr. Michael Enyong has already received an overwhelming endorsement of the critical stakeholders of Uyo Federal Constituency for his second term bid.
The entire Peoples Democratic Party hierarchy in Uyo Federal Constituency has endorsed Hon. Michael Enyong for a second term in office. The youths and women of the Federal Constituency have also endorsed him.
Just a few weeks ago, the Uyo Leaders Council, an assemblage of past political office holders in Uyo LGA, under the able leadership of Hon. Tony Asikpo, also endorsed Hon. Michael Enyong for a second term in office.
The massive endorsement Michael Enyong has earned is a toast to his effective representation.
Hon. Michael Enyong was voted into office to perform three cardinal functions of lawmaking, representation and oversight. And he has acquitted himself creditably in these areas. He is a star performer in the House of Representatives, working actively in various House Committees and making superior contributions during plenaries. He doesn’t make noise about his performance.
Since the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly in 2015, Michael Enyong has raised motions, sponsored and co-sponsored bills and contributed greatly to issues affecting the 4 Local Government Areas of Uyo, Uruan, Ibesikpo Asutan and Nsit Atai, and the state at large.
Right now, he is planning a mega Constituency briefing and empowerment programme for his constituents, billed for July 31, 2018.
He had earlier broken history in the State when on March 18, 2016, less than one year in the National Assembly, he assembled his constituents and gave his account of stewardship. He is constantly at home and in touch with his people.
Right now, Michael Enyong is too busy working to create more happiness for the good people of Uyo Federal Constituency, and to ensure PDP wins in all Units of Uyo Federal Constituency in the general elections. He is fully committed to returning Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for a second term in office.
We advise anyone who calls himself Rev. Richard Peters to find a job for himself and stop parading as a blackmail agent.
