NO SALARY, NO OKOWA 2019′ NULGE DARES DELTA GOV.OKOWA

The National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE has commenced a state wide protest over huge salary arrears owed Local Government Workers, daring Okowa to forget second tenure in 2019 if he fails to clear the salary backlog.

The Local Government Workers who converged at the Uvwie Council Secretariat at exactly 9:00am Wednesday May 17 carried various placards with different inscriptions including ‘Stop Stealing Local Government Fund’, No Salary, No Okowa 2019’ are said to go round major streets in Effurn, including the popular Effurn Roundabout in what is the beginning of series of protest that will cut across the 3 senatorial districts of Delta State before a full blown strike is likely to commence.

Reacting to the protest, the Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor, Charles Aniagwu, said, the Governor feels the pains of the NULGE people, to have been working without salaries. He appealed to NULGE to shield their planned strike, as efforts were on to resolve the impasse.
