HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR AMIABLE FIRST LADY, DAME EDITH OKOWA.
Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Dr (Barrister) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe has described the First Lady of the State, Her Excellency Dame Edith Okowa, as a woman of great virtues, a philanthropist par excellence and a compassionate mother.
Oghenesivbe made the commendation in a congratulatory message to Dame Okowa on the occasion of her birth anniversary celebration today Friday 1st June, 2018.
He said her passion for selfless humanitarian service as reflected in the enviable success story of the 05 Initiative; a pet project of the First Lady is commendable, adding that the world will be a better place if reasonable number of people across board emulates her selfless quality service to the upliftment of the less privileged folks and society in general.
“In just three years, Deltans felt the positive impact of the 05 Initiative across the state through laudable health programmes especially the establishment and free medical services in all Sickle Cell Centres in Delta North, South and Central Senatorial Districts.
“Her commitment and passion for free quality health care services got a boost recently when 05 Initiative restored the sight of several Deltans through free eyes screening, minor and major surgeries by some of best eye surgeons.
“The First Lady also donated medicated reading glasses and a copy of the Holy Bible to beneficiaries of the free eyes programme, a rare display of total commitment to selfless and God given vision.
“Dame Okowa’s strong passion for the well-being of women and children is in public glare as she had personally cooked and served our children on special occasions especially at Children’s Day Celebrations; and visits to hospitals to off set medical bills of detained poor and financially incapacitated patients. The list is endless.
“It is therefore morally correct for Deltans and people of good conscience across board to appreciate and thank God, for the great virtues the Lord has deposited in the life of our First Lady, especially on her birthday anniversary.
“On behalf of my entire family, friends and the Office of the Executive Assistant (Communications) to the Governor of Delta State, I thank the good Lord Jesus Christ, again and again, for the life of our First Lady of inestimable value, Dame Edith Okowa on the occasion of her birthday anniversary celebration.
“The good Lord Jesus Christ shall continue to make a way for her and her blessed family where this no way; grant her longevity, expand her coast in good health, prosperity, uncommon wisdom and joy in the Holy Ghost to fulfil destiny,” Oghenesivbe prayed.
