THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE I WILL SUPPORT IN 2023

ONWUASOANYA FCC JONES

A major factor militating against Nigeria’s development and economic prosperity is that its leaders are more concerned about politics than governance. A Nigerian leader will pay anything for ideas that will make him win elections, but will pay no heed to ideas that will enhance good governance and make the people happier. He will rather prefer to deceive the people, while ripping them off.

How does the ordinary Nigerian benefit from this ongoing campaign for 2023 presidency, when the 2019 political dispensation is yet to be inaugurated? The South is divided on whose turn it is to produce President while the North is already selling the idea that it is not bound by any law to relinquish power. I agree with the North on this. Every Nigerian no matter where they are coming from is allowed to vie for the presidency at anytime. Power is not rice and stew that is rationed according to tribes or zones. Let the contest be about the individual that would provide good and effective governance for all Nigerians, not, the tribe of the individual that will be president. Anyone campaigning for the presidency on the basis of his tribe or any such thing, will not have my support in 2023.

Nigeria is a butt of jokes before even third world countries. We are seen as what we are- an unserious nation. We need a President who can rework Nigeria and make any Nigerian be proud of the Green White Green flag again. Nigerian citizens should be proud of their President and their leaders. Fundamentally, we need someone who knows what the problems with Nigeria are and has practical solutions to these problems. Not someone who would blame his predecessors forever. For Christ’s sake, we will not be electing you to give us excuses. We already know that previous administrations failed, and we need solutions and not excuses.

Nigerian leaders should be told to focus more on governance than politics. They should know when the campaigns are over and refocus their energies and rhetoric to governance, because that is the only way they can earn the respect of the people they govern.

Every Nigerian needs a President that can put food on their tables, a President that can make our educational system work, a President that can guarantee better healthcare, a President that can implement plans that will ensure that great talents do not go to waste, a President that can guarantee the safety and security of our lives and properties. We don’t care if that President comes from Kafanchan or even Malaysia. We want a country that works, a President we can be proud of.
