THREE YEARS OF SUPERLATIVE PERFORMANCE: HON.DAVID LAWRENCE EXAMPLE AND THE SECOND TERM AGENDA

Three years after the Member representing Eket State constituency had taken over office to represent the people in the sixth Assembly, he has proven doubters wrong, and has set a legislative precedence in the history of Eket State constituency.

David Lawrence has surpassed the achievements of past Representatives of the area, and has redefined legislative governance in the sixth Assembly.

Distributing a whopping 32 cars to his constituents, in the first ever mega constituency briefing and empowerment held in Eket, thus, putting endless smiles on the faces of his people.

The Lawmaker had reached out to various communities in Eket since 2015, some of which are “the intervention programme for floor control at AME Zion Primary School, Usung Inyang-Eket, with provision of 150 writing desks and chairs to pupils; payment of monthly stipends to some constituents ranging from N25,000 to N100,000, the amount totaling N1,250,000 till date, and N100,000 cash grants each given to 25 women for small scale trading, amounting to N2.5 million”.

Others are” provision of starter packs for sewing machines given to 24 youths who had undergone six months training on fashion and designing, training of youths in vocations including fittings, welding and rigging”. and also the construction of an ultramodern ICT and civic center at Idua road, paid bursary to about 198 indigent students of tertiary institutions in the first phase and awarded scholarship to 12 undergraduates in some specific disciplines effective from the 2018/2019 academic session.

In June 18, 2018, The Member, representing Eket State constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon.David Lawrence at the foundation laying ceremony for Urua Nka market, he said, “Urua Nka will change the commercial narratives of Eket.” which is being built by Yiwu International, a Chinese company, who is in partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Government, for the building of the international market.

According to Mr. Gabriel Ukpe, who represented the Akwa Ibom State Governor at the event, he said, “whenever there is a good leader, the people rejoice. He said, Eket is fortunate to have a lawmaker like David Lawrence, who conceived the vision of an international market, and brought it to Eket. He said, other lawmakers in Akwa Ibom will want to emulate him.”

Testimonies of his superlative performance from the people of Eket and outsiders, have permeated the nooks and crannies of Eket and beyond.

If all these could be achieved in three years, then his second term will be massive.

As we prepare for the September 8, 2018 delegate elections to choose a flag bearer for the Peoples Democratic Party in Eket, one man who is outstanding beyond any reasonable doubt, is David Lawrence.

The people of Eket will not sacrifice performance on the altar of political or ethnic sentiments. As the pendulum sets on September 8, 2018, the choice before the delegate is David Lawrence. A choice between performance and non performance, a choice between experience and learners. A choice between project completion and non projects. A choice between a legislative voice and non.

As we journey to 2019, let David Lawrence be your choice for 2019. He will always speak your language. A language of performance, understanding, empowerment and assistance. That is the language the people understands. This is what DLAW represents.

A vote for David Lawrence, is a vote for superlative prowess. He has set the example. Let’s join hands and return him for a second term in 2019.
