The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Due Process and Technical Matters, Elder Ufot Ebong, has in the past three years of the Governor’s administration, demonstrated commitment to changing the face of agriculture in Akwa Ibom.
What Ufot Ebong has achieved in a short while with the Akwa Ibom Employment and Entreprise Scheme is better seen than imagined. Although some who may not understand the concept of AKEES had hitherto casted doubt on the existence of the produce churned out, a visit to the different farms in the State is more convincing, which according to Former President Goodluck Jonathan, even the blind can see.
AKEES under the leadership of Elder Ufot Ebong, has created employments to teeming Akwa Ibom youths, through their engagements in the toothpick factory, the supplies done to the factory for production, is done by Akwa Ibom people.
Recently, not too many persons know that there is an existing Plastic factory in the State, which commissioning is underway. A personal visit to the facility, gave me another insight, that the State Governor, through Ufot Ebong’s agricultural and technical drive, is working.
The plastic factory when commissioned, will drive Akwa Ibom State, to the zenith of industrial hub, among the comity of states in Nigeria. It is yet another opportunity, that the industrialization policy of the Udom Emmanuel’s administration, will once again be showcased.
AKEES under the leadership of Ufot Ebong, has revolutionized agriculture, and redefine the minds of people towards the industrial dreams of the Governor.
Ufot Ebong’s leadership means a lot to people. To some, he is a father, some a mentor, others, a leader. But just as Jesus had asked his disciples, saying, who do men say I am? Ufot Ebong remains one of the best brains in Governor Udom’s administration. His analysis and understanding of the workings of agriculture, the government and other sectors, is unrivaled.
Agriculture could generate an internal revenue in the State, if there is much investment in it by the State government, or a collaboration between the state and the private sector, to encourage a bumper harvest.
There could be export of tomatoes, the cucumbers, water melon, etc, being produced by AKEES.
Elder Ufot Ebong, the man with a Midas touch, has breath into the state’s economy, encouraging young entrepreneurs and farmers to grow, creating employment opportunities, and mentoring starters.
It is our belief, that the coming months, citizens will witness an Akwa Ibom led by Governor Udom Emmanuel, who will understand that opportunities abound in agriculture, which could be explored into wealth creation and maximization.
Someday, AKEES under the leadership of Ufot Ebong, will be a force to be reckoned, in the Nigerian Agricultural industry.
