Tuesday, September 16, 2025, began like every other day, but amidst its existence, was a lurking master delivery of a phrase, “UMOENOISM,” which has defied several togas and accolades showered on Gov. Umo Eno previously.
This masterclass coinage came from no other person but an external force, devoid of sycophancy or political colouration. It was a toga from a former Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali, who described Governor Umo Eno in glowing terms and propounded the umoenoism theory.
For Usman Alkali, Governor Umo Eno represents compassion, humility, service, and these indices, reflects and embodies the personae of His Excellency, and in his administration, which has been subsumed into the Umoenoism theory.
At the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, on Tuesday, where the Governor launched the State Security Trust Fund, with focus on enhancing security and infrastructure to attract tourists and investors, as part of efforts to transform the State into a thriving tourism hub, with the theme; “Partnership for a Safer Akwa Ibom,” Usman Alkali, delivered a historical verdict on the Governor, which will always be remembered.
In laying bare his Umoenoism theory, The former IGP described Governor Umo Eno as a rare breed among his colleagues, who is passionately following through his vision as contained in the ARISE Agenda and said governance is about the people, and the Governor has demonstrated passion for his people which deserves to be studied.
It is noteworthy that the judgment of Alkali, a former Inspector General of Police, on the performance of the Governor, can not be wished away. In his expert opinion, he said, security and development are intrinsically intertwined, and the launch of the trust fund has given practical component to the ARISE Agenda, and called on all stakeholders to key into the initiative.
One cannot avoid not agreeing with Alkali, because, even the Bible had asked, “Seeth thou a man who is diligent in his work?” Governor Umo Eno is that man the Bible inferred, as he has brought due diligence to the discharge of his duties to the state.
It is our collective belief, that more Alkalis’ will continue to acknowledge the good works of the Governor, his compassion to do more for the people of the state, and his conviction, that God brought him as Governor, to deliver service to Akwa Ibom people, in the historic eight years, that he will serve as Akwa Ibom’s helmsman.
