The Member, representing Eket State constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon.David Lawrence on Monday, June 18, 2018, said, the Urua Nka market will change the commercial narratives of Eket. The lawmaker stated this, at the foundation laying ceremony of the market in Eket, which is to be built by Yiwu International, a Chinese company, who is in partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Government, for the building of the international market.
The Eket Lawmaker, who facilitated the Urua Nka project, thanked the Elders and youths of Eket for their cooperation, in providing an enabling environment for the Chinese investors, while assuring them, that the contractors are competent in handling the project.
Mr. Gabriel Ukpe, who represented the Akwa Ibom State Governor at the event, said, whenever there is a good leader, the people rejoice. He said, Eket is fortunate to have a lawmaker like David Lawrence, who conceived the vision of an international market, and brought it to Eket. He said, other lawmakers in Akwa Ibom will want to emulate him.
He promised a lot of investments from the Chinese to Eket, and thanked them for having faith in the government of Akwa Ibom State.
Also speaking, Chief Nduese Essien, who gave a good will message, said, the market is for everyone in Eket, as they have before now, worked for the interest of Eket people.
The Managing Director of the company said, the building and completion of the market will be done in six months.
