In the 21st century Nigerian Politics were JUSTICE, INTEGRITY and GOOD CONSCIENCE is often slaughtered on the altar of Selfish Interest. This fine breed of a politician has always stood his ground for Equity and Fairness no matter whose Ox is gored.
As a founding member of the PDP Barr. Emmanuel Moses Enoidem has always been on the side of TRUTH, no wonder in 2007 as a state party treasurer he stood his grounds against the then Governor and party leader HE. Obong Victor Attah who had backtracked on his support for Chief Godswill Akpabio in favour of his son in law as successor for the hilltop job.
His reason was simply based on his principle, that he had already given GOA his words after beeing presented by his boss and hence could not backtrack his stands irrespective of his principals wishes.
And it came to pass that against the run of play GOA whom EME had supported became the Governor of AKS.
I remember vividly Chief God’swill Akpabio on the Ocassion of Barr. Enoidem’s 50th birthday in July2014, described the Legal luminary as his best officer, who handles the most tasking jobs of his administration, especially when he is expected to meet a time line. In his remarks he mention the relocation of Uyo main market, the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, the new government office/lodge among the numerous projects Enoidem had supervised to timely completion.
Let me skip his role in the 2015 Elections where he also stood firm with GOA to deliver UGE as his successor even when the then powerful UOU had swept almost the entire cabinet into his camp with a bumper pay cheque. Again Enoidem had given GOA his words and could not go against it.
Fast forward to 2018, the man Enoidem after the emergence of HE. Governor Udom Emmanuel and upon EME’s election as the National Legal Adviser of the PDP (a duty he has undertook with so much vigor and poise) had given UGE his word that he will stand by the Governor and the party throughout his eight years tenor of two terms.
Recently, this principled officer of the party has been presented with what should be a very tough call to make for other fair weather politicians. But in his usual character he did not even blink an eye, after all his efforts alongside other party leaders to persuade his former boss to remain in the family had failed.
HE STOOD BY HIS WORDS and declared his full support for #UGE2019.
His reasons again is that he had given his WORD, he is a PARTY MAN, he is a true Nationalist and it’s the right thing to do for the overall interest of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria.
