Trail Reporters
Reports reaching our news desk revealed that, the wickedness of the Akwa Ibom state Government through her commissioners has come to play out, as House owners who owns houses closed to the State Secretariat Annex at Oron road, have been issued a one week ultimatum from March 6, 2017 to quit their houses which the deadline expires on March 13, 2017.
Residents of the area who spoke with Trail Reporters said, they have not been given a dime to quit their houses, nor any form of compensation paid to anyone.
We gathered that, the state commissioner for works, Ephraim Inyang has been in the habit of underpaying house owners, with most of them not being paid their actual compensation, even after the Estate Valuers have valued the house at a higher rate.
The new cabal in Akwa Ibom comprises of the Commissioner for works, Ephraim Inyang, Commissioner for Finance, Linus Nkan and Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Akan Okon, who are spearheading the payment of compensation, and are shortchanging the owners of demolished houses, so as to enrich themselves.
Sources said, hundreds of millions of Naira earmarked for payment has not been paid, as the cabals have vowed to evict the house owners if they fail to quit before the deadline.
Akan Okon who oversees the housing ministry was strategically positioned for the demolition, including Linus Nkan, who is sure to facilitate payment, which will also accrue to their private pockets, even as residents groan in pains and get stranded.
A resident who confided with Trail Reporters said her house at etinan road which was demolished by the government, was paid peanut for, as Ephraim Inyang has been fingered and alleged to have pocketed millions of Naira from payment for demolished houses.
As at the time of this report, residents of the area are looking for help on where to go to, as Ephraim Inyang and his gang is bent on sending them way without payment.
Thanks, great article.
