Findings have shown that, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has enlisted his wife into the pay roll of the state government, were she has been receiving over six million naira as monthly stipends.
Udom Emmanuel, despite receiving 14.5 billion Naira Paris debt refund without accounting for it, is set to receive another tranche of the Paris debt refund recently released by the Federal Government.
Although , there have been calls by citizens of the state for the Governor to be accountable, the state house of Assembly has also been indicted on their part, with sources saying, there have been collusion between the Assembly and the Governor, in hiding the money away from the public.
The wife of the Governor, Martha Udom, has received the sum, since the administration of her husband came on board.
Reliable sources said the Akwa Ibom Governor is not the only Governor in the country currently paying his wife from the state’s resources; there are about twelve other Governors whose wives are also on their state payroll.
Efforts to speak with the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ekerette Udoh, were not successful, as he refused answering calls placed to him.
