CLAUDIO RANIERI, GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN; AS FANS PAY TRIBUTE

Fans throughout the King Power Stadium showed their support for the former Foxes manager through songs and banners during their win over Liverpool

Gone but certainly not forgotten – Leicester City fans paid tribute to former manager Claudio Ranieri on Monday, just days after the Italian was sacked by the struggling club.

Throughout Leicester’s Premier League match against Liverpool, fans could be seen holding up banners and signs in support of the 65-year-old. Ranieri led the Foxes to an improbable Premier League title in 2015-16, but it wasn’t enough to save his job as Leicester sit in 15th place and look to be in serious danger of relegation this season.

However, many fans still hold Ranieri in high regard. In the 65th minute, King Power Stadium erupted as supporters sang Ranieri’s name and used their mobile phones to light up the stands in tribute.

The celebratory mood was bolstered as Leicester picked up their first league win of 2017, led by Jamie Vardy’s double in a 3-1 win over Liverpool.
