The Member representing Eket State Constituency, and Chairman, House Committee on Works and Transport in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. David Lawrence, on Thursday, February 24, 2021, led members of the Committee on an on the spot assessment of ongoing projects in the State. Notably, were the 6.41km Nto Edino/ Ikwereazu Road with bridge, Newly Awarded Ikot Ide/ ikot Amba bridge Construction, all in Obot Akara.

Speaking, the Project Manager for AYF DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, Engr Ekpenyong Udo Ekpenyong said, final stone base up to 8km will be done, and will be asphalted in two weeks in preparation of the anticipated burial of the late PDP Chairman of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Udo Ekpenyong, and also stated that the company has employed 87% of indigenes in line with local content agreement.
Speaking for SEYANG, the Chairman of the company, Engr Samuel, said, the collapsed bridge was abandoned for more than 23 years with lots of casualties recorded, until Governor Udom Emmanuel awarded the contract, which he showered encomiums on the Governor for the ongoing construction.
Reacting, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon David Lawrence said members of the Committee were satisfied with the pace of work done, and charged the contractors on speedy Completion of the projects in line with the Completion Agenda of Gov Udom Emmanuel.
