GOV.UDOM EMMANUEL IS A BRIDGE BUILDER – DAVID LAWRENCE

The Member Representing Eket State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, and Chairman, House Committee on Works and Transport, Hon. David Lawrence, has described Governor Udom Emmanuel as a bridge builder in the state.

The Chairman stated this on Friday, February 26, 2021, at Nsit Ubium Local Government, when he led members of the Committee on an inspection tour of ongoing projects in the state.

He described Governor Udom as a man who has intervened in several communities in Mbo, Nsit Ubium, Obot Akara and other places, through the construction of abandoned bridges, construction of new bridges and new road projects.

Speaking at the project site in Nsit Ubium, the Project Manger for Bulletin construction company, said, I am happy to welcome you. The project should have been completed by now, but poor funding. It is a 9.4km stretch. With a spur of 360 meters. 2.3km road has been added with drainage. 6.4km completed with drainage on both sides has been completed.

Reacting, Hon. David Lawrence said, We are empowered by the constitution and the House standing order to ensure projects are completed at record time.

We can see materials. We believe if more funding is made available, we are hopeful the construction will be completed before the expiration of the term. We will report what we see on ground.

Also speaking, the Member Representing Nsit Atai in the State Assembly, Hon. Mark Esset, also said, what we see shows that the community is cooperative. We see that they have hope that this project will completed.

The Committee who had also visited the Eket remodeling project, were received by the Project Manager, Engr. Eric, who represented Niger pet, where he stated that the phase one will be completed before May 29, 2021 and the second phase before May next year.
He decried the Major challenge of the company, which is the payment of compensation and right of way, which verification has been done.

Reacting Separately, The Chairman, Hon. David Lawrence and Member for Nsit Atai, said, We are not interested in May 29, we are interested in the total completion of the project to execute the master plan of this area.

This is the Senatorial district of the Governor, and we expect that jobs should finish here very strong. Go back and work with the Ministry for the completion of the road. Double your efforts. It will be appropriate for the job to be completed wholly, for the aesthetics of this place to be completed. The Highest level of standard should be achieved.

At Larkin smith, Engr Taiwo, who is the project manager for KEMFAM NIG LIMITED, had received the committee to site.
Hon David told the representative that, they came to ascertain that contractors are back to site, and work is ongoing. What we can see here is ok, and the standard is ok. We hope that the project is completed in record time, he concluded.
