EKET CHAIRMAN, FRANK ARCHIBONG FLAGS OFF DISTRIBUTION OF PERMANENT VOTERS CARDS

The Chairman of Eket Local Government, Mr.Frank Archibong on Monday, June 4, 2018, flagged off the distribution of the Permanent Voters card in Eket.

The event, which took place at the INEC office in the local government, had dignitaries present.

Flagging off the distribution, the Chairman said, We are here to flag off the collection of the Permanent Voters Card for the people who registered in April to December,2017, should come and collect their Voters card.

The Electoral Officer stated that, over 6,000 cards are yet to be collected, which the Chairman, Mr.Frank Archibong said, that if not collected, the owners of the PVcs would have disenfranchised themselves, and not disenfranchised by anyone.

The Chairman stated that, if you want to vote for anyone, or you want someone to continue in office, that will only be done by obtaining your voters card.

He charged everyone present, to sensitize the people, on the need to collect their PVCs. He further said, that the Council will partner with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to see how the collections can be decentralized to enable people at the rural communities to be able to collect it.

Present at the flag off were, the Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Electoral Commission and a Former Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr.Aniedi Ikoiwak, the Executive Chairman of Eket, Mr.Frank Archibong and Wife, Councillors, Supervisors, Traditional Rulers, and members of the press.

Speaking with Journalists after the event, Wife of the Chairman, Mrs.Bright Archibong said, she was happy to have collected her PVC, as she had done a transfer of her voting right from Ibesikpo Local Government Area, to Eket.

Traditional Rulers present, expressed satisfaction with the result of the sensitization that was earlier carried out, and the responses so far in the registration and collection of the PVCs.
