Documents available to Trail Reporters News, shows that, this may not be the best of times for the embattled Inspector-General of Police Ibrahim Idris, currently being probed by the Senate over allegations of corruption and abuse of office, as fresh allegations of abuse of office and corruption has been alleged.
In a high powered petition to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Osiobe Ovie had accused IGP Idris K. Ibrahim of protecting a Senior Police officer named CSP Dalatu Usman attached to the IGP Monitoring Unit Force Headquarters, Abuja over alleged conspiracy, aiding, abetting, conniving and releasing official secrets/documents with which the President of The Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Attorney General of the Federation/Minister of Justice and five others were sued in Court.
Speaking with the Petitioner in an exclusive interview in Abuja, it was revealed to Trail Reporters’ correspondent, that many top serving and retired police officers in the Police Force Headquarters Abuja have benefitted from the former Rector of Delta State Polytechnic Oghara, Clara Sogbaike, who is the most sought-after and wanted suspect by all security/anti graft agencies in Nigeria and as such will do anything humanly possible, including risking their jobs to protect her from arrest and prosecution.
Reliable sources within the Police Force Headquarters Abuja confirmed that Exhibits of bullets, daggers, battle axe, Eiye Cult beret and other dangerous weapons which were recovered in Oghara Divisional Police Headquarters, Delta State, were handed over to CSP Dalatu Usman attached to IGP Monitoring Unit Force Headquarters Abuja by ASP Nwankama Friday attached to Federal SARS Abuja.
Further investigations by our medium showed that, no proper investigation was carried out over allegations of fraud of over one billion naira, forgery, armed robbery, cultism and unlawful possession of bullets and other dangerous weapons made against the former Rector of Delta State Polytechnic Oghara, Mrs Clara Sogbaike, Engr. Dickson Eghwatore and others, and a report written by CSP Dalatu Usman sighted by our correspondents exonerated all the suspects of their alleged crimes and further stated in the report that no exhibits of bullets and other weapons were recovered and other suspects indicted have already been charged to Court.
Discreet investigation conducted by our Reporters revealed that, relevant police documents showing the police formation within Nigeria which charged the suspects to court, the name of the prosecutor, the charge sheet and the position of the case in court were conspicuously not attached to the case file but yet the report of CSP Dalatu Usman claimed that the suspects had already been charged to court.
Confirming to Reporter in Abuja, the petitioner alleged that IGP Idris K. Ibrahim has deliberately refused to take necessary actions against the erring CSP Dalatu Usman over weighty allegations of compromise, aiding, abetting, shielding and releasing official secrets/documents to suspects to evade prosecution.
Despite several directives from the Hon. Minister of Justice to IGP Ibrahim K. Idris to order a fresh investigation into the case, it was outrightly ignored by IGP Idris Ibrahim. A directive from the IGP sighted by our correspondent has Reference No. CB: 7000/IGP SEC/ABJ/VOL. 316/836 directed to CSP Dalatu Usman attached to IGP Monitoring Unit to respond to a petition of misconduct, corruption and abuse of office against him via CP IGP Monitoring Unit on March 14th 2017, it was covered up by a cabal within the IGP Monitoring Unit.
A Senior Police officer within the IGP Monitoring Unit, was quoted as saying, “no matter the petition anyone writes against CSP Dalatu Usman over his misconduct and corruption, the petition will die a natural death because Dalatu is a loyal boy to IGP Idris K. Ibrahim and as such, he is untouchable”. We gathered that the IGP Monitoring Unit which is supposed to be the watchdog of the IGP, is now a cesspool of corruption, where top profile cases that wants to be covered up are transferred to and killed by some very corrupt officers like CSP Dalatu Usman.
Several calls placed to the telephone line of the Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood on 080325690** for his comments over allegations of cover up by IGP Idris K. Ibrahim over one of his erring police officers, CSP Dalatu Usman, was not responded to as at the time of filing in this report.
